Urgent Action Needed: Stop Jungle Justice and Protect Human Rights in Nigeria

To President Bola Tinubu and the United Nations

We, THE CHRISTIANS IN POLITICS MOVEMENT OF NIGERIA are deeply concerned about the threat made by a Nigerian police officer HADAIDA HUSAINI DAN TAKI to embark on jungle justice in northern Nigeria. This officer has given a seven-day notice to attack southerners living in the northern region, seeking revenge for the murder of terrorists in Uromi, southern Nigeria.

This threat is alarming and unacceptable, as it promotes violence, vigilantism, and human rights abuses. Jungle justice has no place in a society governed by the rule of law. According to Amnesty International Nigeria, the failure of authorities to protect lives has led to an escalation of mob violence, resulting in numerous deaths and injuries [2).

We urge President Tinubu to take immediate action:

- Investigate this threat and hold the police officer accountable for their actions.
- Ensure the safety and protection of all citizens, regardless of their region or ethnicity.
- Address the root causes of vigilantism and jungle justice, promoting a culture of respect for human rights and the rule of law.

We also call on the United Nations to:

- Condemn this threat and any form of vigilantism or jungle justice.
- URGE the Nigerian government to promoting human rights, accountability, and the rule of law.

Sign this petition to demand justice, accountability, and protection for all Nigerians.
