The more sports we can offer our children, the better their collective experiences are. We live in a cold winter climate and hockey is a sport that fits well with our mountain living profile!

I absolutely believe in the importance of kids playing sports! It teaches them teamwork, leadership and sportsmanship. All of these attributes helps them become confident, hard-workings adults. I can attest to this as I grew up playing field hockey and was a two time state champ. I hope to see the kids ice hockey (and other sports) grow in the valley.

I work for a big company in the valley and we hire lots of local kids for summer jobs and beyond and those that have played team sports always stand out during the interview process. Even if they have very little work experience when i ask them about teamwork within the context of sports they get it and they can bring that spirit to their work. Our little valley needs team sporting activities!

I completely support sports in our schools as I had two high school athletes until last year when they graduated. This helped both of my kids stay focused on school and avoid problems.

There should only be one high school with a hockey team in this valley!

Hockey Rules! I played through high school and the lessons and skills have stayed with me for 27 more years.

One of the reasons we stopped playing is because there isn’t a Basalt team either. Bring on a mid valley ice rink too!

As a parent of boys ages 28 and 26 I look back at the soccer, baseball and football activities that kept our family together on the weekends with many memorable away trips. A glenwood high hockey team would be an amazing addition and we would look forward to watching many games ahead!

Do it for the children. More fun, supervised activities means less time to get in trouble.

It is time to bring RE1 into this century. Hockey is a major sport in the U.S. and it is time to bring it to our schools.
