In a society where it's ok for teachers to jump in front of children to protect them from bullets, how can we not expect them to do the same when parents think the rules do not apply to them. This man deserves a medal for his bravery, not disciplinary action.

I question the administration's apology to this woman. Not only are the rules posted but there are numerous traffic cones in place. She violated all efforts to keep traffic away from the area for the safety of the kids. The idea that she was videotaping while driving but she then used local news to attempt to validate her poor judgment. As I understand she disregarded another individual before her encounter with this coach. Seems that this woman was willing to violate any and all efforts by the school to keep cars from the area. It seems to me that she is deserving of some moving violation, the coach is deserving of an apology and a commendation for his actions and the school administrators need to redact their apology to this woman.

Teacher is a hero and should be treated and rewarded as such. If you cave to this ding bat and punish him for worrying more about the safety of the children than his own you are what’s wrong with our world. Rota should be charged with trespassing and assault with a deadly weapon for driving around with him on the hood.

He did the right thing. I would be proud if my child went to this school. This women who is spinning it is wrong and she is the one who should be punished. Please do not punish this teacher for protecting our children

If you see this parent as a victim, then I must question your judgement and concern for child safety. No one ever stands up for teachers.

This man took a stand to protect his students. Not only should he be commended for his actions, thar woman should be investigated by LEO.

This lady had already ignored one teacher who waved and yelled to stop, ignored the cones set up blocking the off bounds area, and she even states she was ignoring this teachers attempts to stop her. It was after all that he resorted to jumping on the car to try to force her compliance. It sounds like it was a walk through area in a parking lot that kids are used to using to safely get to class. Now imagine this a group of kids who have used this same area all year to get to class. They know no cars should be there because the school has had it blocked of every day. They are goofing off and playing walking between cars. Not watching for the car that shouldn't be driving through the area and out from between cars in front of Rita. No time to react the kid gets hit. Who is to blame? Rita for boxing being where she should? The kid for not paying attention? The teacher for not forcing Rita to comply? None of that blame will bring back the child who is hit. It may seem extreme but it was extreme circumstances. The teacher did the right thing to stop Rita when she was obviously not going to comply with calmly trying to stop her (the cones and the first teacher waving and telling her to stop).

As a teacher, we do what it takes to protect our students.

It’s because of parents like this who think their time is more inportant than children’s safety that teachers have to be patrolling the drop-off line in the first place. Teachers should be in their classrooms prepping for their day rather than policing badly behaving parents. Don't reprimand the teacher; give this parent a citation and use this as a teachable moment for parents!

This educator is the epitome of excellence. His attempt at protecting students even at the risk of his own safety should be lauded as heroic.

The cones didn’t stop her. The first teacher didn’t stop her. The second teacher talking to her didn’t stop her. She didn’t even stop when he laid on the hood of her car. SHE is the problem - not the teacher.

Good job! They were would fault him for NOT stopping her had her careless actions resulted in hitting a child! Since CLEARLY she doesn't feel she should oblige by the rules!
