We support Aaron Morgan, Dulles Elementary School Teacher - Protecting Children at the School House

Thank God for teachers like him.

I think this teachers actions are commendable! Keep our children safe, in schools we try to teach them rules. That woman was obviously not following them and set a bad example for bad behavior. We need more teachers to take actions instead of letting things go before it starts to become a problem!

Since when is it called unacceptable behavior for a teacher to want to protect his students lives with his life. Clearly this woman even said so herself she cut through the cones. Her priority was to get her daughter to the high school not even the elementary. His priority was to make sure she didn't run over any students or kill anyone. Even with repeatedly being told to stop she continued to cut through the cones and even continued to drive with him on the hood. So ky question to her and the school is, who does this? Who has such blatant disregard for human life because their late they ignore multiple warnings and then keep driving as a teacher tries desperately to stop them to save students lives. This teacher is a hero for saving lives if he had done nothing and a student was injured or killed I bet the school would be responding differently. And as she's a parent she should have put kids lives above all else since she has a kid but clearly doesn't. I applaud the teacher for wanting to save children's lives, call him a hero. That's one teacher I'd want teaching and protecting my kids because then I know I don't have to worry about their safety.

I have not been able to find the entire unedited video. If the teacher did stand on the hood to jump off, that's a bit showoffy and should be addressed. Adrenaline was probably a factor in both of their actions, but please do not punish the teacher. The teacher might be a hero. He might have been saving kids. A woman who was running late and thinks rules don't apply to her and had no regard for cones or people trying to stop her might not have regard for any small children darting out either. It's a very hard time in this country right now. Children's safety needs to be top priority, and no one knows what the right thing to do is. After the news story about the man that ran his vehicle into a restaurant killing his family, the teacher might have been worried that SUV was going to do the same thing. Or maybe he just wanted to make a valid point.

This is OUTRAGEOUS. this teacher is a hero and Rita should be ashamed of herself! her whole story was shameful and so wrong. To think she’s on the road doing things like this and she has a teenager so she is teach someone else dangerous driving habits. This is insane and the district needs to back the teacher who was doing his job and they need to fine Rita for putting these elementary school kids in danger. If everyone just did whatever they wanted and thought they were above the law like this crazy lady there would be no lanes on the road and no rules about driving off road just to get to where you need to go. You’d have maniacs behind the wheel driving through people’s front yards just to get to the next street over. The news needs to do another segment on this kick ass teacher and show the real hero in this story!!

This teacher is charged with trying to teach this women’s children not to grow up to be the complete “JERK” that she has become trying to justify and make the issue what the teacher “did wrong” and the fact that she could have been putting people in harms way with her breaking the rules cause she was late. What an amazing example of entitlement and sick thinking. Try getting up 10 minutes earlier and inconvenience yourself a little bit and not blame the teacher, school policies and the fact that the sun came up that day —- for your being late to work. God forbid this mom’s self-esteem gets dinged because she got caught breaking the rules. What can she say or do about the TEACHER who caught HER breaking the rules so that she can then shift responsibility from her to the teacher —-and wiggle out of accountability and responsibility for her actions. Pathetic behavior!!! ThIs is something we frequently deal with in school as educators unfortunately. School safety is the number one issue in schools across America. It is not an issue for anyone else because mom stayed in bed five minutes longer or inconvenienced herself by being a more responsible mom by getting out of the house earlier. The reporter seems to be siding with mom and that makes the story newsworthy, because it shows how screwed up things are in our country. Parents frequently take no responsibility in situations like this and if their kids ever admit or accept responsibility for anything, they get Disciplined the old fashion way by mom at home! Thank you for standing strong against this sorry behaving mom.

I would hug this man if I could! This is a teacher to be proud of, not punish! We talk about teachers who risk their lives (or even give them) to protect their students in cases of school shootings as being heros, yet the woman and media condemns this teacher for doing the same thing because there was no weapon involved (there technically was, the vehicle) and because there was footage from it. I hope he gets an award from the city, even if the school doesn't approve, and that the parent gets at least a ticket for her actions if not jail time.

I am not from this area. But...I have a granddaughter in elementary. We have rules also. If I saw someone doing this, I would be angry. No one is beneath the rules. They are there for safety! Give the teacher a medal...and how about gift cards to get room supplies? And a nice meal for him and his family!

I have zero tolerance for bullies. This parent went above the rules, manipulated the media to slander/libel a teacher, and it is apparent that she did not do the principled action. A teacher like Mr. Morgan was principled and was committed to protecting the students and he gets reprimanded. There are times as a teacher when we do unorthodox things (during times when it is unsafe for students) in order to keep students and fellow colleagues safe. I saw the video. The parent is laughing and her daughter is laughing. So, there value of life for another human being is not very caring. Mr. Morgan should not face adverse action. In my own home state where I am a teacher, we went through safety training and they police officer stated that there are now times in our career when we will be using our instincts to protect the students and their families. So, I believe Mr. Morgan was acting with his protective instincts.

This coach was clearly trying to keep students safe and this Mum was disregarding the rules. How disappointing he would be held accountable versus the parent! Dropping a child to school late is a far safer option than cutting thru schools and going around barriers in place for protection of children.

He was doing his job protecting the children. I applaud his action and the woman who place the complaint, shame on you, you provoke all this situation by placing the kids in danger. You are a danger to the community.

The parent kept driving once Mr. Morgan was on the car... she apparently thinks SHE is above the law in more ways than one. In my opinion, she attempted battery with her vehicle, and should be charged.

It is our job to protect the kids on our campus. Let this man do his job. Maybe Rita should not cut through an elementary school during morning drop off. Maybe Rita should get off the phone in a school zone.
