I am a teacher. I do car duty most mornings. The stuff that goes on with some parents is pathetic. We just have to deal with it, cause if we say something, we get in trouble. Its a problem with our students as well. Trickle effect of enabling rule breaking parents. Give him a reprimand. Let it go. The parent was probably a real jerk to him.

Thank you for standing up!!

The mom is the one who should be punished, the teacher was absolutely in the right, and he was protecting the children! “I’m late” is your own problem to deal with.

Rita was in the wrong #WrongRita! This teacher is a hero! Rita thinks she's entitled to do whatever she wants because she's running late! Terrible example for her children.

This is the purest and well-intended forms of “above and beyond”. As an educator, when assigned duty on ANY grounds of campus, student safety is and will ALWAYS be top priority. There is no bending nor breaking of rules those rules. The second this happens, it will certainly be repeated. Bravo, sir!

I do car duty everyday and understand the rudeness and entitlement of parents. I have had parents lock car doors on me because they want their children to get out right at the front door. It is not an easy way to start the day.

This man should be commended! Shame on the news for portraying anything different. The mother is the one that should be ticketed.

Rita needs to be fined! She is the parent who is late dropping her child off. Rita used a short-cut through the Elementary parking lot , not wanting to wait in line like other parents. Rita is putting other children at risk of being hit by Rita and her car because she is running last. Rita is thinking of only herself not the safety of other parents children.

He is a hero....Rita was wrong. She doesn't even see where she's wrong. She had no business cutting through. How many other parents were running late in that same drop off line. She had no right to endanger others. She deserves to get a citation for her behavior.

Coach Young did what he needed to do for the SAFETY of students. The school district should not discipline yet commend him for trying to execute the safety protocol. Disciplining him instead of the parent, for feeling entitled to ignore rules because her daughter was late for testing, will set up a chain reaction that it is ok for people to ignore the rules when it is inconvenient for them to follow them. I am a teacher and my colleagues and I have endured enough parents almost hitting us in the parking lot as well as they are definitely going above the 5 MPH.
