As a step mom to two babies in elementary and middle school, I fully support this teacher! There are too many lives at stake for this parent to blatantly break the rules and get away with it. I sit in two lines multiple times a week. Do I like it? No, I don’t. However, I do it the correct way, and if it were one of my babies that was endangered because someone decided to be entitled and break the rules, I would pray that a teacher would be brave enough to do something about it. Do NOT punish this man for doing the job that the school district ask him to do. He was on the job, and that job entails getting the children in the school and keeping them safe. He made sure he did just that. Absolutely ridiculous to punish him and not her when she broke the rules!

Punish that parent that breaks the rules and teaches the kid it’s OK. Don’t punish the amazing teacher you’ve got on your staff.

NEA and local education associations should get involved if the district even tried to reprimand him!

This man was protecting the students in his care. He should be commended for doing whatever was necessary to protect students.. with cares being used as weapons nowadays, I feel his actions were justified.

As a school security officer and seeing kids hit by their own parents for dropping kids off wrong. Being hit myself by what I call entitled parents . Something I use to say to them
Your emergency doesn’t constitute everyone in else’s to react a emergency .
I truly hope they give the mom a ticket. Suspended her from driving on school campus.

As a parent of elementary school kids and an employee of an ISD in East Texas I commend this teacher. I would have done the same.

This young man was enforcing the rules to stop prevent students from being injured. Firing him was an extreme measure for his actions. Please reconsider your actions. My grandchildren attend school in this district and , I would want someone like him at their schools who is willing to keep them safe by any means necessary.

As a teacher I have witnessed some similar actions. A parent almost hit me one morning when asked not to proceed in the bus lane while busses were present, no I do not think action should be taken against him for protecting the students. The parents are not always right. They put their children's lives in our hands every day the county/state should back us up when we protect them against something like this.

I am a teacher, and yeah it is unorthodox, but think of the lawsuit you would have if a kid got hit by a car! I hate seeing a school district kowtow to the parents on a safety issue. Just realize that by disciplining this teacher, you also reinforced this parent's awful behavior. The teacher had noble intentions, yet the parent was only concerned about herself.

Houston Area School District should be PROUD that Coach Young would be willing to put his life on the line to PROTECT the children of his school! The District should reward him!! This is a great opportunity for the District to show ALL its families that safety rules are in place and teachers will do whatever it take to keep their kids safe! I wish this Coach could come clean up carline at my son’s school! WELL DONE COACH, WELL DONE!
