The mom was clearly in the wrong and admits it in the interview. Heaven forbid a teacher does there job to help prevent another person from getting hit at this school. If she wouldn’t stop for him being on the hood of her car why would she stop if she hit a kid. She knew she was in the wrong but believed she was above the rules because her kid went to the high school and was late. What a poor example to set for you child.

His passion and concern and commitment to the children and safety of each child, the school rules and regulations should not be punished with harsh and excessive actions such as firing him. Coach him and address the reprehensible actions of the parent and student. Had an injury occurred he would have been praised so why not address the real situation. Don't fear the media and wrong doing of this parent and student. That I itself sends a strong message to society and the communities that wrong actions take presidents over the lives, safety, health and well-being of our children.

Rita should be in trouble! Kudos for hiring a teacher who is actually doing their job to protect the children. This lady is an idiot! Ridiculous that this teacher would be in any sort of trouble!

I am so proud of him. He cares so much for the kids at the school that he put his life on the line. You want to have teachers like this and his co workers who tried to stop the lady who was clearly in the wrong.

While Coach Young’s actions might have been unorthodox, this woman was very clearly in the wrong. She acknowledged that she didn’t want to abide by the rules everyone else follows, simply because they were an inconvenience to her. Student safety is not always the most convenient thing, but it is more important than a parent who is running late. We can’t ask teachers to keep children safe, then punish them when they do.
