As a future teacher I would have done the exact same thing, just because you are running late doesn’t make an excuse for you to not follow the rules in place. He went above and beyond to protect those kids! Rita is the crazy one who should have gotten a citation and in trouble for breaking the school rules that she obviously knew were in place.

Excellent work teacher!!! Parents need to follow the rules! You don't get special privileges because you're "running late". So what - be on time next time!

I support this teacher. As a former teacher with carpool duty a car that is breaking the carpool line rules poses a danger to the children. Coach Young you did more than your job you showed that your students are something you truly care about.

I think it’s ridiculous that this woman would ignore instructions and continue to go through the safety cones possibly harming children and staff. She needs to be held accountable!

If Rita's child got hurt by another parent driving like her, Rita would sue the school system and demand the teachers be fired who didn't do all they could to protect her child. Kudos to the teacher for caring about the safety of all his students and not bending to this woman who was not even supposed to be on that school property to begin with!

You have my full support! My child attends Ridgegate Elementary and to know that a teacher is willing to throw themselves in harms way to protect our children puts my mind at ease. You are a hero to me! That woman was completely in the wrong and honestly should have been cited for endangering children.

Good teachers do EVERYTHING possible to keep children safe while they are in their care- this teacher risked his own life to try to stop this mom who wasn’t following the rules. After driving around and ignoring multiple warnings she wants to play victim- but she’s only a victim of her own stupidity. She should be charged with endangerment not only to this teacher’s life but also every child who was in that parking lot. Kids move fast- as a mom who drops off two small children every school day I appreciate the efforts their school takes to keep them safe inluding limited traffic patterns. If this mom was truly concerned about her own child being tardy then SHE should of planned her day to leave at an appropriate time.

There a rules set in place for the children’s safety. The fact that a teacher would be punished for trying to enforce those rules on a reckless/selfish driver is absurd!!!

This is the reason children don't feel the need to listen to anyone because their parents behave like entitled brats. That man was risking his life to protect his students we need more teachers like him!

although his actions may not have been the wisest, he should NOT be disciplined by the district for trying to stop an entitled woman from potentially endangering kids. If she had hit someone , would he be disciplined for not doing something like this?!

As a bus line coordinator, I applaud you for trying to keep your kiddos safe! Rita should not be going through safety zones because she is late! Get up early like the rest of us! Glad you weren't hurt and that no kids were mowed over by Rita's car. You deserve a medal not a write up!
