I too pull car rider duty and deal with belligerent parents from time to time. Would he also be in trouble if she got around him and hit a child? If he gets in trouble, she deserves a ticket for traffic violation.

Bravo for that teacher sticking up for his student’s safety and well-being, and not letting a parent bully him just because they are unable to manage their own schedule correctly.

This Masters Degree educated professional educator absolutely deserves support for doing his duty to keep students safe. The woman who was late, lacking in logical thought, and completely entitled is entirely at fault for this incident.

I am assigned morning drop off as part of my mandatory hours. You did the right thing! Thank you!

Be thankful he cares. Can you really afford to lose a teacher who is willing to put his body on the line for students?

Reprimanding the teacher and apologizing to the woman who was clearly in the wrong is what is wrong with society today.

It’s a shame if this teacher receives punishment for stopping a woman who admits to ignoring commands to stop because she was running late. Her lack of punctuality is not cause to endanger other children nor is it reason for her to think she is above reproach. She should be ticketed by the school officer and this PE teacher should be heralded a hero!!!!

Rules are there for a reason. She is only teaching her daughter that rules don't apply to some people. Hooray for the teacher.

How would you like it if your kid was walking across the line and got hit? Then you would still be blaming the teachers for not protecting the kids. This teacher did exactly what he should’ve!

I absolutely applaud this teacher’s actions. Good on him for trying to stop a driver who was disobeying the rules. We expect our children to follow the rules, why not their parents? The children’s safety is far more important than someone being late. Sad that this parent subjected her child to this and is condoning her own actions. I’m positive this is an ongoing issue with most school zones/areas as I’ve witnessed similar. This teacher deserves hazardous duty pay!!

The parent is the one who should be disciplined. This teacher was just protecting his students.

The fact that the woman who drove through traffic cones to violate the traffic pattern because she was late believes any action this teacher took is wrong is incomprehensible.

The parent was out of line. Those rules are in place to protect our students and she ignored them. She should be charged and the teacher should he applauded for his efforts. It was also incredo reckless of her in continue driving once he was on her vehicle.

I applaud this teacher. He showed alot of courage. Parent lead by example. This parent shows her child to not listen to teachers and rules don't pertain to them. He should be allowed back to teach his students.

He absolutely should not be deciplined for protecting students! The mother should be fined for ignoring traffic patterns.

As an educator who has worked drop off and pick up lines similar to this, I have seen the danger of parents flouting established traffic rules. Ms. Trimmer-Ray should be ashamed of herself. While it’s possible Coach Young responded a little excessively, he is not the one at fault here. He should be praised for his commitment to protecting children and the admin should use this as a teachable moment in safe ways to deal with unreasonable parents.
