It's time teachers got their respect back! Parents are showing their kids the rules don't apply to them - we have to stop this

I spent 17 years as an elementary school administrator, directing morning drop-off and parent pick=up. So many of the parents think they are entitled to break the rules, just like this parent, Rita, did. She is an embarrassment, a rule-breaker, and doesn't care about the lives of the children around her. The coach/teacher Mr. Young should be given a Hero of the Year award. We need more educators like him.

Way to go! As a teacher I have seen so many near misses because of parents tearing through parking lots. Bad call, news- bad call

DO NOT discipline this teacher in any way. As an educator I see every day an attitude that goes against common courtesy and morals as administrators side with the poor choices of adults. We are modeling (the researched best practice of education) that it is okay to break the rules. We are dealing with the “no spanking” generation that has now how children and they are making very poor choices that teach their kids to be disrespectful and just mean!! Enough is enough! Grow up and teach your children some morals or we all going to find ourselves in another civil war...good against evil.

This teacher is amazing. Good for him. This mother's behavior is that of entitled, selfish person and she is teaching her child that rules aren't for everyone.

This teacher should be commended! Teachers are supposed to put themselves in harms way and in front of bullets, but people that are 'running late' think that they should have the right to break the rules and endangering children. All is takes is one 'late' parent to run over a student.

That woman was completely in the wrong. She should not be exempt from the rules just because she was running late. Her rush to cut through could have easily compromised the safety of a child. With everything that is going on nowadays, it's nice to see a teacher so vested in the safety and integrity of the students.

Pat him on the back! I'm so sick of these people that feel like they can do whatever they please.

This teacher should NOT be disciplined due to the fact that he had to act because of an INCONSIDERATE AND SELFISH PARENT. The parent chose that HER convenience was much more important than the safety of other people especially children. The thing wrong here is NOT the teacher but the SELF-ENTITLED parent.

He did the right thing. The driver was completely wrong. Had he not stopped her and hit a child, he would be in big trouble

This fine teacher reacted like any teacher would...put his own body between his kids and harm. He deserves praise and recognition for his heroic acts! The law-breaking parent should be arrested!

Of course I will sign this petition... if I could sign it a million times for this teacher I would !!!! They should have ticketed the parent who broke this rule !!!! Say $1,000 fine !! I bet that would put a stop to all the rule breaking. Heck the money that is made by parents breaking rules should go into a special teacher account and at the end of the school year throw a big huge teacher appreciation dinner!!!!
