The district states “we do not condone employees using any physical means to stop a vehicle.”. This is concerning because this means that if a driver of vehicle is out of control and will possibly cause harm or death to a person, especially a child, they are not allowed to stop that vehicle. Let’s see how the administration responds when faculty looks the other way and doesn’t stop or report a threat in fear they’d lose their job.

As a fellow teacher who has car line duty every day, I stand With Coach Young!!! The horrible publicity this parent is getting is disheartening and disappointing. You are supported, Coach Young; please do not let this stand in the way of the incredible things you do everyday!

Why punish this teacher for protecting the students? Why not punish the driver who plainly stated that she knew she wasn’t supposed to be going through the coned area? Why is it that teachers always get the short end of the stick? What if she had hit a student? Shame on you!

This teacher was trying to correct the mother’s wrong and prevent her wrong from ending in a tragic accident. He should not be disciplined for that.

I wished he worked at my kids school.
The cones are there for a reason. Rules are put in place for a reason. I am thankful people like this man are put in place to teach and watch over our students.

I work at a school adjacent to a busy intersection. We have had multiple accidents during student entry times. I support and commend this teacher’s split-second decision to protect his students. While his actions may be unorthodox, they slowed down the driver who was knowingly and dangerously violating the established procedures. Students were not in the habit of looking for vehicles coming from that direction and a young child risked walking in front of her moving car and being seriously injured. This teacher forced the driver to slow down while calming repeating the school policy prohibiting driving through this designated area. This teacher should be thanked and commended for protecting students, as well as appointed to a committee to establish procedures to update drop off and pick up systems to prevent people from endangering children by driving in an unsafe manner.

The teacher did no wrong...the driver was wrong for trying to cut through. There are children that could have gotten hurt because she was on a hurry with a child that didn’t even go to that school.

“People/pupils before perceptions”!! Or as I taught my children/students: “NEEDS BEFORE WANTS”!! And the needs of ALL before the WANTS of the FEW/You!! If you don’t want to be embarrassed don’t embarrass yourself!!! Let this MAN TEACH!!
