Let the man keep his job!

I wanted to do this same thing many times, but I didn't. For five days a month (for thirty-four years) we teachers rotated parking lot duty. Most parents were great. Some were just rude, felt entitled to do whatever they wanted, or were just crazy (yes, one mom was committed to an institution the week after she went ballistic in the parking lot), and put kids' and staffs' health/lives at risk. Again, most parents took turns. While directing kids through a crosswalk I had one mother lay on her horn because she had to wait all of fifteen seconds while children walked across. I have seen parents give staff "the finger" just for doing their jobs. Many times I have seen parents pass buses whose "STOP" signs were activated. I have seen parents' cars put lives in jeopardy as traveled at excess speeds and saw others jump the curb in their 4x4's to exit. Since I retired seven years ago, my wife and I moved into a home a block from a school. Several parents block our street's intersection so they won't lose their place in line to pick up their children as other parents will speed up and cut into the intersection. On Open House or Teachers' Conference days parents have actually parked in our neighbors' driveways if the street is full. One parent parked on a neighbor's lawn. I had one towed who parked in front of the fire hydrant in our front yard. I calmly confronted one older woman last year who blocked our intersection. I told her our neighbors were frustrated by actions like hers and thought that my next door neighbor might be calling the police and perhaps she should move her car. She said, "I'm picking up my grandson. How long do you think it will be before the police get here?" I quietly and calmly stated, "I'm not sure, but if you don't move now you won't be able to move later because I am about to let all the air out of your back tire." She moved. You can't cure stupid, innate rudeness, or entitled jerks.

This lady should be ashamed of threating a teacher, and telling the story of how some teachers flagged her down, and she didn't care. God forbids she running a student over, here are enough reasons to throw away the key. What an inconsiderate b...

As a parent, I am so proud of this teacher for doing what he did to protect those students.

I think its crazy to think you can disobey orders and expect nothing to happen. Coach made the right choice at the right time; no doubt. In an age of mass terror, the "threat" had to be stopped! You're the man!!!!

That teacher deserves a round of applause! That parent is NOT the victim. Had a police officer been on scene Rita never would have done what she did. Our teachers need more authority and should be allowed to correct wrong doings! If Rita had hit a child while taking a short cut would the teacher also be to blame for not stopping her?! Give that teacher a Starbucks gift card, give Rita a ticket and let’s go on about our days.

Parents need to start listening for the safety of the kids. He was in the right 100%

This teacher was 100% in the right. I would commend any teacher at my child’s school for doing this. Rita was running late getting her child to school and this somehow should give her special privileges to cut through a blocked off area? She was probably speeding through the school zone too!

I hope my son’s teachers are this committed to their safety!

This man was doing his job in protecting the students under his care. He should be given a medal for this, not discipline!
