I have been a teacher working drop off duty for the last seventeen years and have unfortunately seen one to many near accidents involving our children and parents. The safety measures are put in place to protect students and the parents/guardians dropping them off. The blatant disrespect some parents show for these rules is unacceptable and sends a terrible message to their son/daughter, the rules don’t apply to them. This is why as a teacher sometimes support from parents is so difficult and the respect students have for teachers these days is definitely lacking. I’ve seen it in my 17 years as an educator.

I don’t believe any action should be taken against Mr. Morgan. He was protecting the students at his school. If anything the mom driving through the parking lot should be given a ticket for taking the short cut.

I can't believe the news and the District is making is sound like the teacher is the one at fault. Rita was told not to go that way by one staff already. She went through 2 sets of cones and when she was told to stop she kept going. Who does she think she is? The school asks these teachers to protect the students and to keep the cars from not going through certain areas, but when they do, the district wants to punish them. Ridiculous! I stand behind the teacher. She should have stopped and obeyed. Way to go teacher for going above and beyond for your students!

I support Mr. Morgan & ask that no further action be taken against him. I think he was wasn’t trying to protect the children. I think it is a dangerous precedent to set by punishing teachers for using their best judgment in protecting children even if it is ill advised and unconventional.

The parent should be in jail. You had a child die this year from a similar situation. Her going around barricades should be the same punishment as someone going around a school bus.

He was doing his duty, keeping the children safe. Do not punish him for keeping the students safe. The parent was in wrong for not following directions and she was putting the students’ safety in danger.

Please don't let any action be taken. They both did something wrong but it ended fine.

You don’t drive around cones at a construction site, they’re there for everyone’s safety. Same thing applies to an elementary school parking lot where there are TINY CHILDREN running around. Good for the teacher.

I've been both a parent and a teacher and I would defintely want this guy protecting my child while they were at school! He really is a hero! If she would have hit someone in that school parking lot then people would have said why was she allowed to pass the cones? This is why we have entitled kids because we have parents who think they are the exception to the rule! She should not be allowed to drive back on campus because is you disobey the rules as a student you get punished.

Tired of people thinking that their child’s promptness is more important than the next. I support this teacher 100% in fact it’s about time a school facility member stands up for their students!!!
