As a former Dulles Elementary parent.. I feel that the teacher was correct in protecting the little kids. I’ve witnessed parents and high school students cut through (the blocked off area) SPEEDING trying to get to the high school before the bell rings!! Almost hitting cars and elementary students! There is a reason why that area is blocked off at a certain time and why the elementary sits off to the left! If everyone else has to follow the rules and go around... What makes her an exception? I’m sure she was speeding and he was protecting his little elementary kids. Now she wants to play victim because she was caught. Shame on you lady!! Your child was once an elementary student... We need more teachers like him!! Kudos

I commend this teacher. The entire time I was watching the interview with the mom I was outraged at how complacent she was with her actions and that she was actually upset with the teacher. Coach Young may have saved lives that day by getting in that woman's way. We need more teachers like him.

He has every right to protect the children in that school. I would expect the staff at my children's school to protect them at what ever cost from whom ever!!! Way to go teacher!!!!

This teacher put his own life at risk to save the life of other children...but yet he is in the wrong....something is wrong here and it's not what he did!

While this teacher’s actions may be unorthodox, he did the RIGHT THING to ensure the safety of all of those students! Rules are made to keep people (in this case children) safe! The mother who was dropping off her children and broke those rules, endangered the lives of children.

Coach Young was doing what any adult should do to protect our children and Rita was totally in the wrong and should not be given any apologies or leeway in this situation. Had she followed the rules, Coach Young would not have felt the need to stop her in that manner. She - and her attitude - is what is wrong with our country today!! I fully support Coach Young!

the teacher did the correct thing. The way the driver was acting I doubt he jumped on the hood intentionally but instead had no choice because Rita was not going to stop for anyone. After all she " would have had to go back all the way to the end of the line and was already late". Safety measures are there for a reason and I applaud the teacher for keeping the children safe from self intitled parents that think rules do not apply to them. Bravo

Rita is so in the wrong here and I think she is the one with the anger management problem. “You don’t know who you are dealing with”, seriously? This teacher is a hero in my book!
