This teacher is a hero! The type of teaher you want on staff to be there with the things that are happening in our children's schools. I wish he were the coach at my sons school.

As a PTO president that just helped in getting gates installed in front of our elementary (cones weren't enough), I support you! Thank you for doing what you needed to do to keep the children safe. I know from experience that for some parents, safety isn't first and they have to be physically blocked (hense our gates) from driving where they shouldn't be. It's sad that it came to this. Hopefully the school will implement stronger disciplinary actions for parents breaking the rules so that teachers do not have to go to this extreme.

You did nothing wrong! Rules are rules I’m sure the other parents were just as late as you were. She thinks she gets special treatment. No way!!! Get in line just like every other parent.

This man was protecting his students. How was he to know she wasn’t a terrorist trying to inflict harm on ELEMENTARY school students. She was wrong. She broke the rules. He was simply trying to enforce them. Shame on her.

He should be thanked by the parents from that school. Another entitled parent thinking she is above the law, and we wonder why society is going to hell in a handbasket. Your not special, follow the rules and maybe your kids will too.

Rita should get a ticket. I don't know how it's even a debate that this teacher should have any adverse consequences

As a former teacher who did car line duty, I support Coach Young. The rules are there to keep children safe. Even though she was running late, she still needed to follow the rules. If her child were attending that elementary school, she would want everyone else to follow the rules to protect her child.

Good job to that coach for putting the lives of his students above the self entitled mother who didn’t think she should have to get in line like everyone else.

I appreciate a teacher who is willing to protect the lives of his students with his own life. I do not appreciate a parent thinking rules do not apply to me and by her actions passing that mentality on to her children or other witnesses. By backing the teacher, we are backing a principle and standard and supporting our teachers everywhere. Do not undermine this teacher who did not hurt or harm anyone, just protected his students that day and in days to come. No one will try that shortcut any time soon!

Our schools need to grow a backbone and stand up to parents like Rita. Safety of children should be top priority!! Stop holding everyone’s hands and looking for a resolution that “makes everyone happy”. I can’t believe anyone is even entertaining this parent like she’s some kind of victim!! The teacher was not “physical” with her. The school should back him 100%. Plain and simple!!

An entitled person complaining should not result in a good teacher being punished. We all run late sometimes. That doesn't mean we are allowed to run red lights or endanger other people. Please ignore that woman and applaud the teacher who cares.

Coach Young was protecting the kids and other teachers. He absolutely did the right thing and should not be punished. The parent was risking lives because she felt entitled to cut through the lines and safety cones to get to the high school. This situation was due her own failing by being late and to punish the teacher for standing up for the kids is unconscionable. If you don't approve of him doing his job while on car line duty, you need to hire an SRO instead. You ask teachers to protect the children and then punish them when they do.

I work in a school district in Texas and also have morning car duty. I am often discouraged at the disregard for the safety procedures we have put in place to protect the children. I am in awe of this teacher's courage to do what it takes to protect the children.
