As a former teacher, I remember the terrible anxiety I felt as parents blithely—often recklessly—drove through the drop-off lane, endangering students. I do not fault this teacher. If a student had been hurt, the cry would go up, “Why didn’t the teacher on duty DO something?” While there should be no retribution, it should be acknowledged that it is selfish and reckless to drive in a drop off lane no matter how late you are. It’s not about you. Period.

She should have stopped her car. Her behavior was reprehensible.

People want teachers to carry guns to protect kids, then get upset when a teacher tries to do his job? It makes absolutely no sense!!

thanks for protecting our students. A parent’s lack of time management is no excuse to break the rules and put children in danger.

He’s a hero in my book. He saved countless children from possibly getting hurt or killed by this ladies vehicle. He should be rewarded not reprimanded for his actions.

She was in the wrong, not the teacher!

We have lines and rules for a reason. SAFETY is the #1 reason for our babies. Too bad she was running late. That doesn’t make it okay for her to make someone’s school parking lot a cut though for her. SHE IS OUT OF LINE. SHE IS THE ONE THAT NEEDS ANGER MANAGEMENT. This teacher was protecting the #1 thing he’s required to protect. I support him!

The fact that the woman refused to observe traffic cones, drove around them anyway and ignored the directions of teachers is ridiculous. She could have seriously hurt a child! He was only doing what a parent protecting his own children would do. He should not get punished- the woman KEPT DRIVING. She drove and almost ran him over. Don’t punish this man. This woman acted entitled and refused to follow the rules which are there to protect children.

The parent is an idiot. Trying to be well spoken and she's the one who should be fined.

While I am not local, I feel this teacher did the right thing! His actions potentially saved a child from being hit by a person who was not following safety protocols as set by the school staff (as shown by the cones she was going around). It would be insane to punish a teacher who did his duty to go above and beyond expectations for the safety of the children.

You would be crazy to discipline this teacher!! He cares about his students, not Rita who doesn't care about breaking the rules!

I applaud this teacher! As a mother of two elementary children, it is my biggest concern when I see parents driving without care in the parking lots of schools. It's our duty to to whatever it takes to hold them accountable for their actions when they are admittedly wrong. It takes a village to raise our kids and we need more men to step up like this one!

I completely support the teacher! He was doing his job keeping the children outside of the elementary school safe! Rita, who disobeyed the first person who tried to flag her down, is not privileged and does not have the right to cut through an area where no one else can!! We need more people to care like this teacher does! I applaud him! Great job!

The teacher was trying to stop a parent from what the parent admits was the wrong thing.
