As a teacher of 40 years, I have also experienced this entitled behavior of a parent running late. The primary concern is what is safe for the children. Mr. Morgan acted with that thought in mind. He should be celebrated and honored. When I had 'my moment' with a parent swearing at me in front of students and other parents, my principal with the agreement of our Asst. Superintendent, had our local police pay the offending parent a visit to inform them about child safety and a teacher's duty. Never happened again.

That parent was in the wrong. She took a shortcut that could endanger elementary students. Do not get rid of a good teacher.

Rita Trimmer-Ray clearly violated the direction from not 1 but 2 teachers tasked with protecting the children in the elementary school. She acted entitled and as if the rules didn't apply to her. Her lateness superseded the wellbeing of everyone. She should be ashamed of herself and the school should hire more teachers like the the one who took the stand to guard his post!

If this is what happens to teachers that are trying to protect the children from a tragic accident because of neglect. Close the school down. The children safety is the only priority.

She would literally run him over-
-oh, she did run him over. And he still tried to talk to her and convince her not to drive in a place she shouldn't. She is selfish, entitled, and ridiculous. Give this man a raise. He should be a the Principle.

I support this teacher inwhat he did. I volunteered as morning student drop off line at the elementary where my children attended. Parents pulled stunts like this all the time. At one of the little cal elementary schools a 7 year old boy was hit by a parent in a hurry. The boy was killed. What this teacher did, was to possibly save a child from this parent that admitted she was running late. The teacher had EVERY right to protect the children at his school! He should not be suspended for doing his job and protecting those children.
I hope he is able to be rewarded instead of scolded for doing the right thing!

FULLY support the teacher. I live in a different state however I have grandchildren in the Houston area and in Ca and Chicago areas. I hope they have teachers with the concern and love for them that this teacher has. He deserves kudos for not backing down on the CHILDRENS SAFETY!

I am a student. I would have been thrilled and overwhelmed with gratitude that a teacher would be willing to risk his life to protect his students. Obviously, this woman was ignoring the rules. She ignored them multiple times, before the teacher took action. What if she had a bomb or a gun and was trying to harm students? She obviously has a goal which she is desperate enough to achieve that she went against orders. This teacher is a hero, this woman is entitled.

Having been an educator for 25 + years, I would do anything to protect my students! Mr. Morgan was doing the same thing and should be hailed as a hero! If he jumped in front of an armed gunman to stop him from killing students, he would surely be called a hero, right?

Rita was wrong, she is not even a parent at the elementary school, She was putting these children in danger and because she was late and decided to take a shortcut through the elementary school parking lot during drop off to get to the high school. Safety is not her concern. Instead of her being concerned with the teacher protecting his elementary school students, she should be concerned with buying an alarm clock and we can up earlier so she won't need to take shortcuts through elementary school and put children in danger.

I support Mr. Morgan's actions and I hope that the parent who put children's lives as risk (because she was running late getting her daughter to school) will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law!
