He was right. The parent was wrong and putting other children at risk because her daughter was late. We should not punish someone trying to protect our students.

Motivated teachers are hard to find, do not stiffle this man's passion over a parent's action and a very admirable reaction from staff.

Instead of asking what is wrong with this teacher ask what is wrong with you that you think it’s ok to let your child watch you act like this as a mother. It shows your child that the rules don’t apply to you and when you get in trouble to just whine and throw a temper tantrum and act like the victim. And we wonder why our children act like self entitled Brats it’s because some of these parents do. Instead show your daughter that you have some self respect left and at least take responsibility for your actions. Instead of after your running late and not only bypassing 1 but trying to go past a 2nd school teacher charged with keeping our children safe you then have the audacity to run to his bosses and try to get him in trouble. Then take it to national news. What a great role model you are for your child. These teachers have a hard enough time dealing with unruly students. They truly don’t need this type of BS from a parent. And then for her to not stop the car and handle herself in a more professional manner after all that adds insult to injury. We need to show our children how to be productive members of society and how to take responsibility for our actions especially when we are 100% in the wrong. This world would be a much more peaceful place if we all put the blame where it belongs and stopped looking for a scapegoat. I applaud this teacher and I would hope that he would do it again if he saw that a parent or anyone else was putting our children in danger! She would sure appreciate this much care and attention if there was a gunman at the school and he threw himself between her student and the gunman! Just a side note!

Good for him! We need more teachers like him. I'd want him to be there for my kids like he was for that school's kids. SHAME ON THE DRIVER!! She is expecting special treatment because SHE was running late. SHE put kids in danger, SHE flouted the school's safety precautions, SHE is teaching her child it's ok to break rules and not be accountable for one's actions. The teacher should receive a medal!

It may have been extreme, but HAD she hit a child, you would be screaming at him that he could have done more. He is a hero!

I am not from that area, but that teacher was doing his job. This women is not a victim, with all the craziness going on with schools I am glad to see a teacher protecting the school and students like this. He didn't know who she was or why she was trying to get into a closed off area, she did wrong by continuing to drive through after being told it was closed off. It was not the teachers fault she was late. Let's stand up for this amazing teacher. I would want him at my child's school in a heartbeat, because if he is willing to do whatever necessary to do his job then I believe he would do the same if it came down to protecting my child.

He was protecting the students, he was keeping them safe, you can’t just break rules because you’re late, and then play the victim when you’re caught doing wrong. KEEP THIS MAN AS A TEACHER!!! He was willing to RISK His LIFE to protect the kids!!!!!! Great job sir!!!! We need more people like you in this world!!!

This district should be ashamed of themselves for putting this hero on leave. Had Mr. Young NOT protected the children, and a child was hit because of this mothers selfishness and self entitlement, the punishment would be swift and hard, fired. He was protecting the kids!!!! HER late child, does NOT TRUMP my child’s saftey!!!!! Thank you for doing your job!!!!!
