Cutting through any parking lot is frowned upon let alone an elementary school during drop off time. He did what he thought would make her take him seriously and stop. Rita should have respected the adults that were in charge and turned around. Plain and simple.

As a retired state trooper and an active volunteer at the schools our children attended, I am well aware of the difficulties directing traffic anywhere and even more so the stressful environments of school drop off zones. I admire this teacher’s dedication to his charges.

He did exactly what was to be done. Stop people from getting through. It could have been a different person with bad intentions if the scenario were just a little different.

If you've never worked the elem. school car rider line, you don't understand. I put in 13 yrs trying to keep hundreds of little kids safe around many cars - parents have no idea how hard it is if even 1 doesn't follow the rules and how unsafe it is. Not to mention the lesson it sends to the kids that they can disobey the rules if it's convenient for them. I'm behind Mr. Young 100%!

The only reason why any action is being contemplated by the school is because the story was inaccurately driven by the media. Shame on the media and on the self entitled mom who "starred" in the story.

As a teacher and a parent who worries about our children’s safety, I applaud this young man for standing his ground. This woman, by her own admission, trespassed on the elementary school campus because she was running late. That’s the kind of teacher I want protecting our children.

Nothing should happen to this teacher. He was protecting kids and she shouldn’t make a shortcut through the elementary school.

Parents are often selfish in their actions and need to be held accountable both inside and outside our school buildings for the safety if ALL children.

Great work sir! Sorry you got reprimanded by the media for doing your job protecting your students! I hope your not discouraged because of ignorant and entitled people who feel as they did nothing wrong.
