I do support our incredible teachers, and I think Devon is wonderful. I support my fellow parents as well, who have been so good to my family in so many ways. My kids will be back in the fall, whatever that looks like!
I also support the board, and appreciate their time and willingness to take on a tough job. I think they will make a good decision when it comes to choosing a new head of school. I am worried that this climate is going to discourage good candidates (both teachers and administrators) from coming to MCDS.
I am deciding not to sign the petition, but I appreciate you all. And I will support whoever this dynamic community puts in place as the head. I have no doubt that they will be awesome.

I believe Devon Davis is an integral part in creating the feeling we all love at MCDS.
She has personally taken the time to listen to and help my children with various challenges over the years. She always makes them feel heard, leads them to creative solutions and supports them in their long term goal. She is a wonderful example. Exactly the kind of person you want to have on your child’s guidance team during this time in their life. To bring someone new in at this time provides no stability. Devon has already earned the favor and respect of the staff, students and parents. It would be a huge blow to the community to lose her. Who would want that?

The Board’s discrimination against Ms. Davis is undeniable and inexcusable. She boosts morale among students and faculty alike, and has been/will be the ideal person to lead our school through tough times. Speaking as a student, a familiar face is exactly what we all need right now, to reassure us that we, the faculty, and our parents, are in good hands.

I do not understand why Devon was not on the short list of 3 candidates being interviewed this week. This does not seem like a fair process given the positive feedback about Devon.

Absolutely, without a doubt, Devon is best qualified to continue to lead us during these turbulent times. The fact she has been passed over a second time in the wake of resoundingly overwhelming support from faculty, staff, and families is profoundly upsetting, discouraging, and puzzling.

Throwing more money around on a search for Head of School when 1) there is no money to be thrown around and 2) the most qualified candidate is staring you in the face, is lunacy. I can't imagine the number of families and teachers that MCDS will lose if Mrs. Davis is passed over again.

I think Ms. Davis has done an amazing job and would be a great HOS. Further, to look for a replacement, interim HOS is a waste of resources and effort. Several changes in HOS in such a short time can be detrimental to a school's morale and growth. Ask the MMSD high school in my district.

Devon has done an outstanding job as interim head of school and she would have made an outstanding head of school, without the "interim". The board made a tragic mistake in letting her get away. We need her continued leadership skills during this very challenging period for MCDS.

Devon is a wonderful leader and has done a great job leading us through the transition to @home learning. We need a strong leader right now who is familiar with our staff, students, and parents to lead us through these unprecedented times and that leader is Devon. The kids have gone through a lot with these changes during COVID and need some familiarity at school, we should not change head of school at this time.

From when Mrs. Davis began working at MCDS, she was always someone students could come to and someone students could look to whenever they needed guidance. If anyone embodies the spirit of community that MCDS has and should continue to have, it is her.

Everybody wanted Devon as head and the trustees should be ashamed of themselves for driving her off. It never should have come to this. Our incompetent board is driving our wonderful school into the ground with their shenanigans. This is a bloody travesty. Get rid of the board and bring back Ms. Davis.

I am a new parent, with the first of my three children attending in middle school this year. I have been very very impressed with MCDS in the response to the Covid challenge. And I am re-enrolling because of that, despite having the ability and educational experience to homeschool easily. As an administrator of a school myself, I solidly believe that during a time of upheaval, that a current experienced staff member should be the interim head of school. However, I do believe that an anonymous poll of the staff and teachers should be the MOST important deciding factor on this topic. As a new parent, I can only express confidence from my relatively limited experience.

As an alumni, it has been discouraging to see the quality of care towards the students as well as faculty drop as it has these past few years. The school was founded on the tenants of community and trusting relationships. I can only hope that these return.

It is completely absurd we are seeking to hurry up and find a new Head of School when we have a competent Head of School in Devon Davis. She has more then stepped up to the challenge given to her even in a time when the board basically slapped her in the face by not moving her through to the second level of our initial search. Shame on you Board of Directors -we have no money or need to be searching to fill this position during this time of covid chaos when we have a great fit in Devon Davis and the cohesiveness she has created with our teachers - they are working as a team. If this was not my daughters senior year I would most definitely be considering pulling her from the school. We pride ourselves on teaching critical thinking to our students- apparently our board needs some retraining in this area!! Again shame on you Board of Director’s!!
