So sad that it came to this. Such a disappointment. It really makes you wonder.

A false narrative has been promulgated that support for Devon was limited to a “small group of aggressive parents.” That is ABSURD. Why did the Board exclude 2 of its only 8 members from the search committee—both of whom may have supported Devon? In addition, 1 of the 6 committee members did not sign the letter from the Board. Why is that?
Devon is an extraordinarily wise and competent leader. MCDS should be agile and creative enough to recognize that those qualities are the “requisite qualifications” for the Head—not a thick resume. During a worldwide pandemic, we should have begged Devon to remain as Head—rather than insulting her by forcing her to jump through the hoops of an interview (perhaps only to placate the faculty and parents) for the job she was already doing superbly. The further insult of not naming her as a finalist AGAIN should be resented by the entire community. If you are new to the school, please ask your teachers and veteran parents why we esteem Devon so highly!
The majority of voices have not been heard. Please stand with our faculty and staff and sign this petition so that the truth of the breadth of support for Devon is clearly shown.
P.S. I’m also signing this on behalf of my 5 children: 3 current students and 2 graduates of MCDS. Thank you to our beloved teachers!

Parents and faculty spoke loud and clear in their desire to have Devon Davis as our Head of School. She has the respect and admiration of parents, faculty and students, and she offers stability during a time when our world is anything but stable.

It is beyond ridiculous that these measures even need to be taken.

The fact that Devon is not in the finalist pool is completely unacceptable. After all the "listening," I do not feel listened to.

I was willing to go through the process. However the process was severely flawed when there was no faculty, staff, parent or alumni included in the search committee and when only 6 out of 8 board members were allowed to be on the search committee. The MCDS Board of Trustees clearly does not have the characteristics of an effective board. Effective boards according to NAIS are contextual, educational in their approach, consider the importance of interpersonal relationships, strategic in their outlook, analytical in their process and political in understanding who they serve.
