Dumbest reason imaginable for firing that officer.

This poor man has had nothing but amazing comments and reviews. No need for his job over a Facebook post absolutely absurd!

The school system needs this Officer back. He is a excellent man, a role model & most importantly, he does a great job at protecting our community as a Law Enforcement Officer!

Better to be safe than sorry...I'm sure the past schools that encountered shootings would have appreciated an officer like this man that keeps his eyes peeled and maybe if they had an officer that suspected there was "suspicious activity" and made it known like this officer...just maybe their schools would NOT have encountered a tragedy. My hats off to this officer and shame on the board of education for reprimanding him for having the best interest for the children. Give this man his job back. He is only honoring his oath and doing his job to the best of his ability to keep the children safe. SHAME SHAME SHAME on the people that took his job away!!!

Absurd to remove a SRO over a post on FB. If I had a child at Croatan High, I would have rather known of a possibility than to send my child in to a potential life threatening situation.

My daughter attends W.O.E, and I could not think of a better, sweeter, more caring officer to look over my child and everyone else's! He loves those kids and they love him ! He did the right thing as a father and as a protector , if it wasn't for his post many parents and families would of never known about this threat ! In my eyes he did nothing wrong and people need to be more worried about who made the threat to begin with , not trying to destroy Officer Mitch's job for trying to do his job and keep our kids safe !

as an alumni of Croatan high, now attending a large SEC school where security is the number one importance, I can see the dangers that can come if security and protection are not at the forefront of an educational system's establishment. Just because our school is small and in a town where 'everyone knows everyone', we must remember places like Sandy Hook, etc. You never know what threats are real or bluffs, so why take that chance? Many students go on to be very successful from Croatan, and some, rather, that small, unnoticed minority, we'll see in reports of assault, drug abuse, or drug dealing later on after graduation. My point is that you don't know what these kids are thinking or what their intentions are until it's too late, and it's important to be at peace of mind in the classroom. Bring back some sort of protection.

The school board should be thanking this officer for possibly stopping another school tragedy.
