This is obsurd. He should not lose his job for taking a threat seriously to protect our children. He should be given an award! School board is who needs to be punished for not caring about the children and making them go to school when there was a threat. Bring him back

as a parent of a Jr at Croatan, I'm grateful that Officer Mitch is so dedicated to our kids' safety - it's sad that he's being punished for clearly doing the right thing. What if the outcome had been different? God bless you Officer Mitch!!

It is very easy to use hindsight in making decisions. He made a decision that could have saved lives, if it had not been a hoax but the key is that it was the live edge of life and he had no knowledge that it was a hoax. He should be commended not have his job taken away.

i support anyone who takes a threat , big or small , to our community's kids seriously . I comend officer Mitch for giving parents a warning of a situation that in today's world cannot be ignored .

I applaud him for his love and dedication to our children! He did what any parent would do! We could be here trying to figure out how someone got on campus and injured (or killed) precious lives, but instead we're discussing the fact the 260 children missed instructional time! Thank you Officer Mitch! God Bless You!
