Quote KJ “I urge the President to call a Committee of Inquiry! The parliamentary session will not provide answers. Here’s what I said about it in the blog: “Whereas I have no confidence that a transparent complete and fair account of this issue will be presented in Parliament in July, I have no doubt that many MPs will make long speeches taking up the bulk of the Parliamentary session. A few inoffensive and vague questions will be asked by both sides of the house (for faux balance) and then an ad hominem attack will be launched on me from a place where the senior ministers enjoy parliamentary privilege and I have no right of reply. Then we will hear no more.”Unquote

The people need to know the truth whether there’s any wrong doing, how much is the rental, who paid for the pool, tennis court, interior design, etc, please include more people who are truly impartial and independent, it’s a real joke that SMTeo is always the Goto person to resolve all these sagas

I do feel there is a need for an account, lawyer and real estate professional to be in the committee to objectively analyse this issue to suss out shortcomings and make recommendation for improvement.

This matter seems more serious than the lying on parliament by RK of WP. This concerns matter of integrity by 2 sitting ministers of the ruling party. A COI would clear them of any stain to their reputation.

One cannot claim "Nothing to hide", and call for an "independent" review and yet have one to be carried out by a long-time close colleague from the same party. Singapore is not some corrupted third-world country. Others will be laughing at Singapore if we allow this.

I urge for an independent inquiry to be held. Ministers cannot investigate other ministers. As LKY said, we need to he fair but more importantly we MUST BE SEEN to be fair! A situation of "own self investigate own self" will never lend be seen to be a fair and unbiased investigation!

COI have the power to request for whatsapp, emails, documents and interview the ministers directly. Like Raeesah Khan's incident. Transparency and accountablity, not "ownself check ownself" I know this will not happen, with the current one-party government.

If the ministers said to "recuse" themselves during investigation, then why did they want to rent the state-owned properties knowing it would bring much speculations and cause much anxiety, problems and inconvenience to oneself and others? More so, to involve mainly civil servants of low ranking and high ranking civil servants to investigate the matter. Thus literally causing disruptions in their normal cause of duties and hence "squandering" of taxpayers' monies in view that the salaries of these civil servants of both high and low ranking arecdrwn from taxpayers' monies - wasting of time and resources as a result. In my opinion, why get their own peers to conduct the investigation? How much can the public trust? Yes, to call for an independent party not related to the govt body to conduct an true and factual COI is needed to ascertain the true facts of the rentals.
