We Oppose McDonald's DriveThrough

Our town is very adorable and highly pedestrian. Please do not put a very busy McDonald’s drive-through in our town. Not only able to change the character, but it will increase traffic in a place known for kids… Teenagers usually… Who like to walk around. They do not have the best judgment! And neither do hungry people in a rush. That’s not a good combination. A McDonald’s would not add anything to the Community… It would only benefit the corporation.

Ridiculous by the board. Changing laws for fiscal reasons is irresponsible. Stop taking money under the table. We all know it.

An architectural travesty!! Just vote NO to traffic jams, truck deliveries, etc. There goes the neighborhood. Next, they'll want to add parking across the street in the park.

This McDonald’s would be a huge mistake for that location. The roads can not accommodate that type of establishment

Not a good idea nor the correct location

Citing variance precedents of establishments on Jericho Turnpike and Rt 110 in Melville - those roads are multi-lane roadways and not at all equivalent to Park or Pulaski What they should be citing is the large number of accidents on the corner of JTP and Park where the Wendy’s is located, one of which I was an eyewitness to, and there are makeshift memorials to people who died there. The cars that need to go south on Park will need to find a way. They’re going to go through the college section, and come out of Lake and Hofstra, which has already seen a rise in accidents where its streets intersect Park.

I am a quarter mile south of this intersection. These are heavily traveled county roads in both directions. People trying to make a left turn into this location are going to cause huge backups, especially on Park right where it is narrowing down to one lane. Please reject this application in its entirety. Thank you.

Approving a fast food outlet at this location would show complete disregard by town officials for residents in the immediate area, whose quality of life would be forever changed. It would also impact the culture of the town and siphon trade away from established local businesses, most seriously in the immediate vicinity, but throughout town as well. They call it the Walmart effect – when a big business endangers local firms and diminishes the unique quality of a town. It would create huge amounts of disgusting litter, not only making a mess but attracting wildlife to the road, causing dangerous accidents, and negatively impacting one of the few green spaces left in the area, directly across the street. I live in Northport but come into town all the time. It already takes half an hour for what should be a 10 to 15 minute trip along Pulaski Road. A McDonalds here would make this much worse, and further endanger pedestrians and cyclists. Worst of all, it would create an attractive nuisance for children, who would certainly visit such an establishment at this already dangerous intersection, on foot and by bicycle. Kids love to gather at such businesses! It's a safety nightmare. James Kunstler in “The Geography of Nowhere” discusses how dangerous our Long Island road designs are for our kids. Those proposing this application suggest that this undesirable operation wouldn’t draw more traffic. This is laughable. They claim this use of the property wouldn’t impact the community more than the old bank, but a fast food outfit is not like a bank. It’ll attract a much larger segment of the population, and thus far more traffic. For example, customers of other banks wouldn’t visit one at this location, but customers of other restaurants would visit one here. And they say it won’t impact traffic, but why does the engineer say they’re planning to change the traffic signal timing if traffic wouldn’t be affected? They’ve also made frequent mentions of other

That intersection is already overly congested. A McDonald’s would make it worse. Stop rubber stamping re-zoning requests.

That block is asking for opportunity, a McDonald’s isn’t if. There is no fast food in the area and we should strive to keep it that way

Will cause extreme traffic going to the hospital and the smell of food in a residential neighborhood And the garbage and Ronan’s that will come with that any commercial food chain belongs on Jericho not in a neighborhood!

Traffic at rush hour will be worse then it is now. It will also be dangerous as the main road to Huntington hospital

Traffic conditions rodents smells changing our residential area to commercial is just not a very good idea. The homeless next-door at the family league service will only be more of a havoc and a destruction.

I just left the hearing on this. There was SO much opposition to this. They need variances on so many things (billboards, seating, parking, etc)- why should any of this be granted when the people who live here do not want this? This is not a public service or need! No one wants them. Why should these be granted? If this gets approved, the town should get a new board.
