Israeli actions are not perfect. However, Israel is a shining example of a democracy in the Middle East and does not have to be held to a higher standard than other nations.

Very sad to see this move. Portland is my home but I am not proud of that today. This is nothing but ignorance and antisemitism rearing it's ugly head yet again.

It should be a matter of shame that our city government is so easily manipulated by such hateful, deceptive demagogues. It will be a matter of pride of these evil ones can be stopped in their tracks by people of good will.

It is a shame to legitimize the PDX HRC by attending their meetings and sending petitions. The committee made a decision to propose a boycott of 4 companies just because they do business with Israel. They do this under the guise of Human Rights Abuse. They did not do their homework to understand the issues, and at best they naively and ignorantly support BDS, a known anti-Semitic organization who is behind this. At worst they know the issues and are very biased. I believe they made up their minds even before a vote was taken and slipped the measure through. Some members were not even aware of what was being voted on. They will now support this despicable motion because they are too embarrassed to admit their mistake or are simply bigoted. The chairperson at the meeting set a biased tone to begin the session and things went down hill from there. Their goal, except for a few people, was simple: blame Israel.
This committee should be disbanded as they are pathetic and are not worth what is spent to support them.

This is the worst thing that Portland has ever done. This is anti-Israel driven, meant to hurt the only Democratic state in the Middle East. I was born and raised in Portland and am furious. Shame on having such a Human Rights Commission in the first place who have control over city money and are causing pain to us.

The so-called "human rights commission's," especially when it offered no time or invitations to those with opposing views, is engaging in the worst kind of blatant racism against the Jewish people. The decision should immediately be overturned.

The Portland HRC action is biased, unfair, unhelpful and ill-informed. The root of the plight of the Palestinian people is their repeated rejection of the chance to have their own state on multiple occasions over the last 67 years, and the explicit refusal of their leadership to even acknowledge the right of Israel to exist.
Israel has the right and obligation to protect its citizens by every means available, against terrorist attacks with bombs, knives, missiles or vehicles.
There are far worse human rights violations around the world for the HRC to focus on than the activities of HP, motorola, Caterpillar etc in Israel.

The HRC has not distinguished itself - by first listening to only one (actually prejudiced) side in the first place and then by not retracting its vote in the second place. The activities of the people who supported the decision in the second meeting illustrates EXACTLY what the HRC should oppose.
What a travesty the HRC represents. Absolutely NO real concern about human rights.
Israel is the ONLY country in the Middle East that has human rights. Arab-Israelis are members of Parliament and even Chief Justice of its Supreme Court. What other Middle East country allows a minority these rights?
The HRC has lost all credibility and should be disbanded.

Israel is fighting for survival. It is one of the few countries in the Middle East that produces goods. To boycott them is like punishing a woman who has her period; both are doing what is essential for survival.
