Raj is a fantastic teacher and inspired us so much in philosophy and philosophical discussion. His passion shines through his lectures and we learnt so much from him and I know students now will gain so much through his teaching. the

Raj is as inspirational and dedicated lecturer who was universally respected across our Philosophy year group (2005-2008). I remember Raj beginning the first lecture he ever gave to our class with some motivational and empowering words. Many of the students were so engaged with Raj's lectures that we would talk for hours afterwards about the questions raised and still speak fondly of the way in which we were taught. Raj also supported me in taking over the Philosophy society and growing it from the small group that met occasionally to a fortnightly club with many attendees from a whole range of disciplines. Raj always went beyond the call of duty to support his students and created an atmosphere where even the least self-assured in the class would feel comfortable to speak up. He fostered a true love for Philosophy in many.

Raj's teaching style is tranformative - he makes dense difficult texts accessible, makes lectures and learning a joy. He is an inspiration, genuinely cares about student development, and a credit to Roehampton University.

Raj Sehgal is one of the most patient, talented and committed university lecturers I have had the privilege to work with. Roehampton University would not be the same without him and not for the better! Raj has a way of teaching that inspires even the most "uncommitted" students. The current students at the university will be severely affected by their absent lecturer in the last stages of the year. Hopefully this won't hinder their chances of getting the best grade possible.

Raj was the most supporting, helpful, friendly lecturer I had. He taught intellectually stimulating lectures with such ease that made them more comprehensible. He was always someone you could go to without feeling intimidated for any question however big or small and the philosophy department would endure a massive loss without him. He was the reason I chose the course at Roehampton from my first open day.

Hearing Dr Raj Seghal has been suspended from teaching has shocked me. It's hard to believe that someone so passionate, engaging and best lecturer I ever had could be suspended from teaching! I hope he makes a return as his absence will surely deprive the university of quality teaching!

I am very concerned to hear that Dr. Sehgal may not remain in his post at UoR. My learning experience at University was brilliant - and I can attribute that with confidence to Raj. - because of Raj's decisions and direction as a programme convenor
- because of his engaging and passionate style as a lecturer and seminar discussion facilitator
- because of his guidance and support as my dissertation tutor.
Raj excelled as a lecturer, enabling students to open up discussion and learn for themselves, whilst ensuring that we fully understood the syllabus and concepts discussed.
I'm sure I can speak for many other current Philosophy students and alumni in stating that Dr. Sehgal's teaching vastly contributed to the 91% satisfaction with teaching on BA Philosophy (NSS2016).
Raj is an inspiration and has the greatest talent for bringing out the best in his students. He is the greatest educator and is widely respected, because, whilst Raj is likeable and approachable, we know that he knows what it takes for us to succeed and how to bring the best out of us!

Raj attributed to my academic & personal growth far more than anyone else I've encountered in the teaching sphere.
He is the most articulate, kind and intelligent person at the university and it would be a disaster for Roehampton to lose him.
I'm sure his absence during the Spring term will highlight what the many petition signers are saying: Raj is integral to the success of the Philosophy department and must be reinstated.

Raj is a genuinely understanding teacher who inspires debate amoung his students, throughout my degree I always had the highest grades in his modules because he encouraged me to excel, in fact without I probably would not of been able to graduate without his support

This is distressing news. During my time as his student, Raj did so much for me academically and personally that I wouldn't have been able to get through the degree without him. Not to mention that he is one of the most impiring lecturers.

Raj is by far the best teacher I have ever had. To try to make him use more traditional teaching methods is ridiculous, and goes against everything education should stand for.
