I think a staff common room is a brilliant idea!

The staff common room would be the plave where one can meet collegues from other university sites. It is an important factor to build up cohesion within the University.

A Staff Common Room is essential in any University for exchnage of ideas, forgiong collaborations, supoport and just good old academic camaraderie!

The SCR was, inter alia, a splendid facility for visitors from other universities. I do hope it can be restored.

What planet do these senior managers operate at? We have an out an out liar in a VC at UUC and now Queens have the short sight view that a staff room is not needed. So much for the ethos and principles that universities were built upon. Sadly lacking in both Universities at the present moment in time, Stephen Nolan would have a field day with both VC's! Just a thought people

Ironic that, as the members of UU Coleraine's venerable Senior Common Room fight to keep our Common Room alive against the shortsighted & under-handed decision by the University's management team to close it and kill our community (http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/savethescr), the staff/PG community at QUB fight to have their own returned! What is it that the rest of us know that these so-called management teams have yet to learn? In support of a QUB Common Room.

Unversity of Ulster common rooms at Jordanstown and Magee were closed. SCR Coleraine is under threat of closure. Managment at UU says that the DCR is being 'replaced', It is not - staff are being offered an empty room. I support QUB.

Since the loss of the old Staff Common Room there has been a distinct decline in collegiality and a drift towards 9-to-5ism.
