Every other university that I know has staff facilities that encourage inter-disciplinary interaction. Why is this regarded as so important everywhere else but not here? A common room would be a start in helping us to get to know some of our colleagues?

A world-class university without a staff common room? Not that a room would make us world-class but it might help.

Is there a 'world class' university without a staff common room?

A staff common room is essential for cross-disciplinary contact and for entertaining visitors. Its absence is embarrassing.

Given the emphasis on interdisciplinary working it seems odd that we do not have a room in which to meet and talk with colleagues from other Schools.

It is part of an academic institutions collegiate ethos. Furthermore it adds gravitas to the QUB experience if staff had visitors.

I find it realyl strange that staff don't have a common room they can use, especially since there is an "old staff common room" in the Lanyon..
