The price raise is TOO MUCH! RI families need a fair price, not what RIOC is demanding.

Guessing RIOC forgot those 3 little words — Public. Benefit. Corporation. Guessing they forgot who actually lives here & uses Island establishments. Guessing that a fee structure that respects the Residents of ALL ages & abilities w a modest rate, AND engages visitors, the Cornell Tech folks & Hotel guests w a higher rate is beyond RIOC’s skill set. It’s never too late to do the right thing — here (and @Motorgate)...

RIOC continuously denies the needs of the members of this close knit community in favour of profit. Why are we, the residents of this Island, being forced to pay the same prices as visitors who have no vested interest in our community?

Shameful and outrageous behavior. I grew up swimming at this pool - how out of touch do you have to be to set luxury gym-level prices for a community center? This isn’t Equinox. RIOC needs to tune into the reality of Roosevelt Island residents and their purchasing power. This is meant to be a space that’s accessible to the community, how do you expect even half the people who used to go there before renovations to afford these new prices? Ridiculous.

RIOC: making Roosevelt Island a less attractive place to live day by day. What a disgrace.

The prices are OUTRAGEOUS and completely beyond the amount many residents can afford. This is a community space for the residents!!!

This much if a rate increase is ridiculous. Leave it to RIOC. Typical. I wonder if they fixed the disgusting showers with plugged up drains and black mold or the uneven floor with puddles of stagnant water and lab doors that didn’t close…. And maybe lifeguards that actually pay attention to the swimmers instead of flirting….

Should we remind RiOC that every building on the island now has gym facilities. Who would use this expensive gym facilities. It is apparent that they are so out of touch that they do not even know what faciities exist here.
