WVH Board to do feasibility study
Accordingly, we the undersigned shareholders, request that the Board of Directors allocate the resources necessary to hire experts to review, analyze and explain our options both as individual shareholders and a cooperative. The work produced by the experts is to be shared with shareholders and used to prepare plans that help determine the highest and best use of our resources to support and ensure the survival of our community.
We further request that the Board authorize the creation of a committee of interested shareholders, to examine a wide range of topics on issues affecting our community including but not limited to: calculating projected taxes; refinancing the mortgage; addressing infrastructure concerns; adding affordable units; and rebuilding the complex. We request that the committee be authorized to describe the scope of the work to be done by the experts, recommend and help vet experts so that the Board may select the best qualified consultants for the purposes of this project, work with the experts selected to ensure that they are familiar with the issues confronting our community, and otherwise provide assistance to the Board and experts selected as needed.
Time is of the essence and we request that the Board take immediate action on the requests set forth in this petition.

The feedback from the board remains frustratingly vague while the actual work of digging into these financial options continues to fall on a few of us. Exhaustion is setting in, yet the necessity of this study grows more obvious with each passing week. We are continuing to push for the transparency this community needs to survive.

At the January 5, meeting, a Board member requested that support for such a study needs to be demonstrated to the Board. The petition will help show that support. The cost of this study will be relatively inexpensive compared to other elective expenditures our co-op has done in the past and will continue to do in the present. I wish we did not have to create this petition. It's really a no-brainer.
Knowledge is power, let's find out what our options are so that we can make an educated decision about our largest investment and our homes.
It would be cheaper than running the common space electric heaters 24/7 regardless of the outside temperature.
We can't be ready for the future unless we have current, real-world facts and figures. Any decision we make regarding a rebuild must be based upon facts - not emotions.
Job one for the board is WVH's survival. This study should be its most pressing concern.
I propose a "beneficiality" study who benefits from what.

Increasingly extreme and more frequet weather events, combined with anticipated sea level rise are sure to impact our community again and again. All resilience options, including rebuilding on higher foundations, deserve exploring.
