Such blatent ignorant uninformed comments do not belong in the Senate. I really would like to know who her Indigenous friends are that Beyak said she has many Indigenous friends and those that read her speech "recognize her knowledge, compassion and expertise" on the First Nations file! Her reality is the "fake news"!

The senator has not demonstrated the requisite knowledge, empathy, or interest in victims of violence and does not serve the people well. She should go.

shameful comments, which were made without any thought or consideration for the children who were forced to attend these residential schools; after being ripped away from family home and their community. that is in itself was a horrific assault on the children. never mind the constant and violent abuse the children endured. beyak is a stupid woman. full stop

Even the attempt to find a bright spot in crimes against humanity particularly from an MP is egregious and tantamount to both cultural prejudice and blatant racism. How she could think that the torture of young child is every acceptable is exactly why she needs to resign immediately. She is a disgusting representative of Canada, and we as the citizens deserve better than this. Its this attitude that allowed for the residential schools to go on for over 100 years. She is repulsive to say the least.

How do the words "kindly and
well-intentioned and good deeds"
ever fit into the horror that these schools created. She needs to go Please.

Does not deserve to be the voice of Canada or the residential school survivors.

The residential schools were part of the planned genocide of aboriginal people. The fallout is ongoing. The tactics were similar to nazi death camps. No good comes of this.

A senator of the Senate Committee of Aboriginal Peoples who appears to not have read even the summary of the Truth and Reconciliation Report is obviously not professionally or ethically qualified to sit in the Senate. She should resign from the Senate immediately.

It saddens and disturbs me to know all the different ways that harm continues to be perpetrated against First Nations people. Senator Beyak, your comments only contribute to this harm. I hope you will apologize unreservedly and then resign your seat and give someone with compassion and a firm understanding of privilege,as well as history, a chance to help make this country much better than it has been, especially with regards to Indigenous rights.

Senator Lynn Beyak's has expressed her belief in ill-informed and harmful views. She refuses to apologize or recognize the negative effect of her point of view, and this kind of willful ignorance has no place in Canadian politics. I will not support anyone who values their own ego over the basic human rights of other people.

"They meant well" is as cringeworthy as "not all men" ..... the intent was to wipe out a culture. Stop pretending like there was any value to the residential schools.

You lack sufficient understanding of the history of this country to be an effective leader and representative.

Now is the time to show liars and opportunists that they can not continue with obstinate behavior and blatant disrespect of the people they serve.

This Senator must resign. She must leave now. The vile, apologetic way she makes her defense of crimes against humanity would make Josef Goebbels blush. The senate stinks enough as is. Take out your garbage.
