Beyak needs a very strong lesson in Residential School History. She needs to learn why the Residential Schools existed (to kill the "Indian" in the child". There's NOTHING positive about this philosophy. The sooner they turf her, the better.

In the preface to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's report we find these words:"Getting to the truth was hard but getting to reconciliation will be harder. It requires that the paternalistic and racist foundations of the residential school system be rejected as the basis for an ongoing relationship." Senator Lynn Beyak has work to do. Relieving her of her Senate seat will give her the time and space to live out the calls to action that we all must engage in.

Condoning any part of a horrific concept and system like the Residential Schools is tantamount to saying the Holocaust had it's good points.

This person is an apologist for ongoing colonial genocide. She should resign in disgrace instead of living off our taxes.

Her brutal snub to First Nations peoples was racist and abusive, she does not represent Canadian values.

A national inquiry just concluded that residential schools amounted to cultural genocide. A person who says this is a good thing cannot remain in a position where she represents Canada.

We need to move forward by accepting the horror that was residential schools and providing reparations for the continuing legacy of them. This unelected senator should not be allowed to make laws when her view is so unhistorical and supportive of a national crime.

I am not denying that there were a few good experiences in residential schools for some. It does not make it any easier for the majority who suffered abuse at the hands of priests, priests that also murdered innocents. These children were ripped from loving families and came back to their communities with all of the shame these same people inflicted on them. To minimize the suffering of these people horrendous.
