The idea that cultural genocide can be "well intended" is white supremacist apologism of the rankest and most vicious order. Nobody who makes this argument has any place in politics.

It is unacceptable for any Canadian senator to make such remarks. Especially on record. It's even less acceptable for a senator who is part of the Committee of Aboriginal Peoples.

You have not earned the right to speak as an authority on residential schools - only those who were forced into them have earned that right. Perhaps you should step outside of your privileged life and truly walk a mile in their shoes before you speak on other people's behalf.

The truth and reconciliation work, recommendations, and documents speaks for themselves, as have many of the living survivors of residential schools.
