When you own an experience that is not yours, it shows your privilege.. this is the complete opposite of reconciliation

After all that's been revealed about the horrors of the residential schools, comments such as yours are inexcusable.

Is she extraordinarily ill informed? Any other explanation casts her in a light far worse than plain ignorant

This woman has no place in politics or society. No more coddling of her or people like her. Time for them to be held accountable.

I live with the aftermath of Residential schools..having to learn my culture and language again..so I ca try and yeach my children and grandchildren..my own mother whom attended RS doesnt know her own language or our culture..and carries much shame over that..and she is mentallyaffected an not allowed to be alone with my children and grandchildren because of her mental instablity and abusive personality..Our experience is not limited to just my mother whom attended but has affected her whole family..and we have suffered..thank goodness we have help via counselling, and First Nations healing organizayions to help us gain out self-worth back. I could go on but I dont have time to write a book on all the horrible legacies left to me and my family, from my mothers stay at a Residetial school

Beyek's statements are thoughtless and inappropriate. She is simply not a good fit for the job. Surely Canadians deserve better. It is important to have confidence in our Senate. Her removal is necessary considering her professional limitations. No doubt a more suitable person exists. Why settle for less?

She us entitled to her opinion, but she is not entitled to undermine the huge human rights travesty that was the residential school system.

No excuse for the ignorant comments she made. Nothing about residential schools was good. It is a shameful part of our history. For survivors and their families, this must have been unbearable.
