we actually did it because they agreed to pull the plug on the mandated testing requirements. im honestly stunned by this win and so thankful for everyone who backed this from the start. lets stay ready just in case they try to push something else like this later on.

I will briefly summarize my petition by stating fourteen points.
*Students know that test scores may affect their future lives so students will do anything to pass them. *Teachers know that the success of their students on Texas mandated test affects their salary and they to may do anything to help their students. *Texas Mandated test does not give any feedback on how to perform better on tests. *Texas Mandated Writting test does not measure the students creativity; it measure the students ability to follow directions. *Texas Mandated test favor people who have social and economic advantages. *Texas Mandated test makes teachers focus on how to pass a test more so than focusing on the actual content of the class. *Texas Mandated test occurs in a artificial testing environment. *Texas Mandated test stresses out the student and teacher. *Texas Mandated test takes away from the Richness of fundamental learning. *Texas Mandated test provideds teachers ,students, and parents with a false sense of security. *Texas Mandated test only exist for administrative,financial purpose, and for political purposes. *Texas mandated test benefits everyone but the student. *Texas Mandated test creates "Winners and Losers". *Most of all Texas Mandated testing wastes everyone timeUpdates

My future shouldn't depend on a book of question that are rushed due to limited time. We should focus on how we do through out the year !
Because standardized testing means that my future is boiled down to a handful of numbers that are representative of the teacher, not the student.
Recent graduate I took TAKS multiple times it's not about life related things. I rocked on my SATS. THAT BEING SAID TAKS DOESN'T DETERMINE WHAT WE KNOW AND DON'T KNOW, SO IT SHOULDN'T BE A REQUIREMENT FOR GRADUATION. SO MANY FRIENDS DIDN'T GRADUATE BECAUSE OF TESTING. SHOULD DEFINITELY BE BANNED.
Teachers are only teaching us materials for the test. We are only learning how to bubble in answers. That is not a real education! It's also stressing the teachers out, because if we do not pass, consequently they could loose their job.
I hate standarized test, all we learn is short-term memory leading up to all one test. It's too much stress. Also it's unfair for kids with disabilities because every kid learns at differnt rates.
I think standardized test don't define who we are as a person.
