The Statue will do nothing for our school spirit because most of our sport teams (except for a small handful) are virtually non-existent. We're better off building a new parking deck or parking lot that students can park in. Or how about fixing the shitty buildings that we already have.

I love how they think that a giant red hawk is going to help the school yet my dorm hasn't had heat for most of the semester, calcia has black mold, there is not enough parking, and the food at Sams still makes everyone sick.

I understand that the university is trying to promote school spirit, but a giant statue of a bird costing $210k is not the way to go about it. There are much better things that the money can be spent on that will make the student body much happier - improving the food, parking, any rundown buildings or dorm halls - the list goes on and on. We are paying to go to school here for a reason: so we have a say in where our money goes.

This is completely unnecessary, what about actually having heat in Calcia so the students don't have to freeze to death while in class or have more parking spaces.

I would much rather this money be used for the benefit of the students at Montclair State. Not only that, but we at least deserve a say in how our money is being used. Furthermore, even if this money wasn't to be used for our benefit, I would much rather see $210,000 donated to a charity, because that would be more useful than this statue.

Not to mention rising tuition costs. When I started here, it was 5500 a semester, now it's above 7.

As an out of state student who could hardly park already and a half dozen unfinished building. Their priorities are way off course.
