We are calling on the National Assembly of Wales to officially recognise and celebrate a National Chartists Day. We are NOT calling for a Bank Holiday (something the National Assembly cannot decide upon and will therefore not consider) We do this to ensure that our National institution undertakes its natural leadership role to ensure the Nation of Wales and its peoples are able to honour and remember the distinct sacrifices and contributions of Welsh Chartism and the role played by Welsh Chartists in the working-class movement's fight for political reform, fair representation and an end to political corruption in Britain between 1838 and 1848.
