On July 15 2016, a fraction within the Turkish Armed Forces had attempted to perform a coup d'etat. The junta behind the attempt was apparently directed by the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO)- a group classified as a terrorist organization within the Turkish National Security Policy Document. In response to the coup attempt, the Turkish public rushed to the streets. Thousands of people protested and reclaimed their democratic will. Tanks, helicopters, and F16 jets were utilized. The junta recklessly targeted the civilians regardless of their age, gender and socio-cultural background. For the first time in its history, the Turkish Parliament had been hit by F-16 fighter jets. In addition to this, the presidency, the hotel in which the Turkish President was residing in at the time, the National Intelligence Service Headquarters, the Special Forces Unit, various municipality police headquarters and municipality councils were also hit as well. The horrendous coup attempt resulted in 290 civilian deaths and another 1535 injured.
As academics, intellectuals and researchers, we stand by the courageous Turkish people who have been out on the streets to protect their democratic will. We also support the Turkish state in its struggle against coup attempt.

The climb to one hundred has been exhausting but we need to keep pushing forward. We still have ground to cover and the weight of this work rests on our persistence right now.

In the afternoon of July 15th, we learned it with deep sadness and followed the events during the following day without sleeping. Please let us be very careful that our reactions are logical and towards creating a peaceful society. We also condemn all coup attempts. We support the Turkish state.
The failed coup was intended to derail democracy and development in Turkey. Although it is essential for the government to purge and seiously deal with the culprits but let's not turn in to excessive retribution Long live Turkey Syed
I thank to all political parties, members of Turkish Grand Assemby, NGO's, Media, Bussiness Circle, academic community and especially our respectfull people for their stand agaist coup and defence of democracy.
One nation, one state, one army. No one has a strength to broke our solidarity. we, the people, believe in democracy. i believe that those who resist against all lawless organisations are the true hero of this country.
We all the patriots are against the Feto-supported insurgency which goal to eliminate democratically-elected government in Turkey and aim at govern the state. I cannot accept this attempt and I say that the national sovereignity of a state belongs to its nation.
Thank you for hard work
Love turk president and his followers :*
