My daughter thinks she has to wear shorts that hit her knees because she’s so paranoid about being “dress-coded”. Meanwhile this eliminates 90% of her wardrobe since she only has 2 pairs of shorts she will wear to school. I do feel shorts need to be mid thigh though and not “booty” shorts.

really needs to change. I will not be seen as an object that somehow excites boys, that is not my fault. It is theirs for not having self control and since when has a boy ever told a administrator that a girls body is distracting them from learning?

Yes, please! Claire missed an entire block of STEM last week and was almost put in ISS because we couldn’t get to school quickly enough to pick her up. She was dress coded AGAIN yesterday but luckily had clothes for a sleepover with her to change into. I had even given her the thumbs up before leaving school yesterday morning! Is covering a couple of inches more really going to be less distracting? For once, Roanoke City has it right!

Perhaps the focus of the administration should be on monitoring the behavior of students rather than the clothes that are worn. Do we really want boys to be taught that girls, by the way they dress, are the reason they can't focus in school? Perhaps self-control should be encouraged, not discouraged. I agree with a dress code that limits clearly provocative clothing, but I don't believe athletic shorts fall in that category! Too much time is being spent pulling children out of class when they should be focused on much more important things than measuring shorts to see if they are 1/4" too short!
