We are seeking to make a change in the Botetourt county dress code.

While I will sign this a lot of the outrage about the dress code is from women. Yes I understand it mostly affects them, and yes it needs to be changed because it allows uncomfortablility. But also I wouldn’t be surprised if some girls who want this to be changed are using it as an excuse to show off their body, and bs like that. I think it does need to change, but don’t take advantage of it. Now go ahead and grill me because “you’re a guy you wouldn’t understand” but I get it. Now I would go into detail about how it is fair in some sense but it is definitely too aggressive and needs changing

The Dress code is rediculous. I got Dress coded one day because my shirt didn't go down to the middle of my thighs when I was wearing leggings. Since it was tied up I just let it down and I still got sent to the office because it was like half an inch off...

I am sixteen years old and i’m 5’10”. My legs are very long and i can never wear shorts when it’s hot, and i was even dress coded for wearing shorts over leggings. the dress code makes me feel humiliated and objectified.

I agree we should have a dress code... but no so strict. Girls should be able to wear leggings with a regular shirt, because I know my jeans are as tight as my leggings, and my shirt doesn’t have to cover my butt in jeans. Spaghetti straps arnt allowed either, that is crazy. Showing your shoulders is not allowed, but guys can wear jeans with holes all the way up their thigh without getting dress coded.... crazy. Last thing.... don’t dress code one person for her skirt/leggings/holes in jeans/top, and not dress the other wearing the same thing.

Please allow shorts for girls of any length and athletic shorts.

I really do think that girls should not be sexually objectified. Boys walk around all the time with their underwear hanging out of their shorts and that is disgusting. None of them have ever been called out or gotten in trouble there but why are the girls just seen as objects. No one cares is they can see your shoulders. I understand that no one wants to see your butt or boobs or your entire stomach but a shoulder or a thigh never hurt anyone i promise you. Girls should not be objectified like this and please sign this petition if you agree.

Ok there are some standards to dress code. For example, sagging or girls having their butts hanging out if their shorts because they’re so short. But why can’t the dress code be more lenient. Why can’t girls wear spaghetti straps. It’s not like it’s super revealing it just shows out shoulders. And why do guys find our shoulders distracting exactly???? I mean, they have shoulders too. Literally every human has shoulders but it’s only the girls’ shoulders that are distracting. Why aren’t we allowed to wear leggings with regular shirts? Because leggings are “distracting” or “inappropriate”. They are just pants!!!!!!! Comfy, soft pants. Girls wear skinny jeans all the time with regular shirts and they don’t get dress coded. Skinny jeans are basically just leggings with a jean print on them. SIGN THE PETITION WE DESERVE TO WEAR LEGGINGS
