As a 66+ yrs resident I am absolutely against this idea. It will create an eyesore with parking lots, littering and traffic issues. The inner road is too narrow, has no shoulders and has too low a speed limit to handle any additional traffic.

I am in support of the bike path. Would love to have better access and views of West River. I have traveled all over the USA and been in many coastal cities including LA Jolla, California and if you catch West River on the right day, at the right time our precious gem outshines them all. Let's share it with others, not just a select few who think their rank is higher because of the length of time, or whether they grew up here or their parents were born here. There's no such thing as first come first serve, we are all equal and should all have the opportunity to enjoy this special coastline.

I'm a lifetime islander. Just yesterday I took my sister and niece ( non-islanders) to bedell grill and reminisced about the great times we had there even as small kids when our parents took us along to hear Don play ragtime! We took the west river scenic tour to kellys country store. This after a day spent sunning at Sandy beach- yes, our private beach with new resident minks making a home there. As we drove the parkway we just kept saying how pretty it was. Grand island is a unique quiet place to live. Ughh to the new apartments and ick to the ugly Blvd. And ABSOLUTELY NO to the proposed bike bath and other silly proposals for that space. Leave it alone. We don't need more people coming to the island. I heard we may need a new school wait-WHAT??As for the bicyclists I'm sure the few of them will do just fine with what is there. Don't touch perfection. I love both roads and both are used and needed in many ways. The island has changed so much since I grew up here and my parents grew up here and my grandparents all settled here. To much building on to little space. That is my opinion and I'm entitled to it. Keep the island small. Maybe use the money to clean up the Blvd. not a great invite to our quaint little pork chop island hovering over Niagara Falls.

No to closing the West River Parkway! It will affect the Border Patrol, will increase traffic in a service road and secondary rural roads.. The serious cyclist already said they won't use it! There will be up keep and garbage to maintain. And patrolling. It will cost us money!

Do not close this lovely parkway which we the people of Grand Island have put so much money,our time and efforts into to maintaing for all that enjoy it.

We are being to that there is no money to maintain the road. Then let's use it until it is not safe to drive on it anymore, then cover it with dirt and plant grass !
