As a former student of the Dixie School I find this name change BS ludicrous. I wonder what my Middle School civics Teacher Ms Ellis (a black woman) at Miller Creek would think of this.! Sorry liberals are ruining the world and are taking Political Correctness to a ridiculous level and to places it does not belong and is not needed!

As a Dixie Elementary and Miller Creek graduate, I am disappointed by those trying to change a name that has been our districts name for over 150 years, and that we have a historical landmark of. I read an article about a family that moved from San Francisco to Marin to be in the Dixie School district, despite its name. And that now they're trying to have the name changed due to them being "offended." It seems that we live in a society where if any one person is "offended" by something, that there needs to be immediate action so that this person doesn't have hurt feelings. Everyone gets a participation award. There are no winners or losers anymore. What our world has turned into is sad. People's skin has gotten soft. There are winners. There are losers. If we don't like what's on TV, then change the channel. I'm sorry that there was point in time in history where the term Dixie was incredibly hurtful, however, there isn't one person alive that is directly affected by it. That's why it's H-I-S-T-O-R-Y. And the point to take away from history is that we all need to learn from it. Quite honestly, I don't feel like the black family's demanding the change are learning from history.

I believe it should be left alone. I am sorry but we are giving to much leway to people. Look at the pledge of allegiance its out flags in classrooms are out. What's next. The country was built the way it was not racist but we change everything that foreign people what they want to live here don't come change our country. This is the USA .

Both of my children grew up in the Dixie School District, attending Dixie Elementary School and then Miller Creek Middle School. We have always loved the schools and the name. We have never thought of it as racist, in fact, it never even crossed our minds until this insane lawsuit. Why do a few make the decisions for the rest of us? This is so wrong. PLEASE keep up the fight to keep our school district left alone!!!
P.S. I now live at Hamilton Field, but have always supported the Dixie School District's teachers and programs. PLEASE save the Dixie name for the majority of us who want to keep it!

I am a Dixie alumni I attended Don Timoteo vallecito and tlhs proudly. Dixie School District is sacred to Terra Linda Marinwood and Lucas Valley history. In this day of “improving” this touches too close to the Community’s historical values. Do not change the name Dixie to make a name for yourself. It violates my history too!

I watched Dixie school being built as my parents bought their eichler in 1962. I was in the first grade when Dixie was finally finished. My kindergarten year I had to go to Lucas Valley School. Never was it ever mentioned or suggested that the name "Dixie" was racist.
Stop putting words in young children's brains.
Keep "Dixie", Dixie.

There are better places to exert time, energy and money than to bully a name change on a school district that has historically offered a fabulous education and childhood development with absolutely no connection to the activities of ‘the south’ from years past. No connection!

They think they know everything and make broad assumptions without ever researching the background of any issue. Please put a stop to that behavior in this case!
