I like the name the way it has always been and was when my brothers and sister went there 50 years ago. Dixie school forever.

I lived across the street from Lucas Valley Elementary 20 yrs I watched it being built. I think the name change is a smoke screen for a power grab.

I went to Mary E. Silvera and Miller Creek Jr High. This name change reflects ignorance of history. It should be stopped

I grew up in the Dixie School District and my Mom still has her home on Miller Creek Road. Never once did we think the name had to do with the south.

It will cost far more than estimated to change the name. Get real with the numbers and I might change my opinion.

Changing the name of the Dixie School District is a ridiculous meaningless political gesture, as there is no connection with the Confederacy which has been defunct for over 150 years. It's a waste of time and money.

As a healthy population we have to stop being swayed by the tiny minority that are continually offended, seeing racism everywhere. These frustrated haters are trying to incite the majority to view the world through their eyes and hypersensitivities.

Please remove Marnie Glickman from the school board. There is no room for drama and Marnie Glickman is truly a trouble maker. Leave the name Dixie as it is.

Save the Dixie name...it's the only thing that keeps the home prices from plummeting...

It’s ironic that The educators are not educated in history. They would rather rewrite it than learning from it. Mary Dixon was a Native American not connected to the Democratic Slave Owners and founders of the KKK.

Recall her. Her wish to re-write the history is absurd.

I’m from the south and I do not feel any connotation with named Dixie. We need to focus on our kids not on history that is in the past.

I have spent >10 years in the Deep South where references to Dixie is quite common. No one there clamors for changing Dixie references, surprising it's such a big deal here for people who would rather focus on trivial affairs instead of our children's education - sad & disappointing!

If in fact this was named after a Native American named Dixie, I support keeping the name.
