To me Dixie is just a name for a part of our country and the name of a paper cup. It has never had any other connotation for me. I think we are getting carried away and would be spending money better used for education.

I have always liked the name, all of our kids go or have gone there and the name was always welcoming. The thought of trying to fine a good name in todays environment would be a real battle too!

I have 2 kids in Dixie Elementary and Miller Creek and have felt nothing but inclusion as a Dixie parent. Use the money for better purposes, like the teachers and students.

Stop the argument. Be tolerant in life. "They" can not dictate life for their good. The name has been there for generations, accept and move on. Don't waste the money on this take care of the children's needs, it's not about the parents feelings!!!

Don’t waste time and money on frivolous things. Utilize district resources educating children to improve STEM scores.

The effort to change the name is sponsored by self-serving board member Marnie Glickman who has higher political ambitions and is acting counter to the purpose to which she was elected. Spend time and financial resources on education, not this stupidity

I was proud to be on the DIXIE School Board for ten years and co chair of two parcel tax campaigns. Let’s keep our traditions with pride. The name has nothing to do with support of the confederacy

Both my children attended the Dixie school district and are now in college.
We, the Dixie school district people, come in many colors and shape with quite a varied background & history.
Our community is a combination of multiracial, open minded, big heartted, caring & devoted to all well beings people, filled with acceptance and respect for all history, culture, people, color, gender & non gender. It has nothing to do w/racism. Dixie is just a name that has been part of our history & our neighborhoods. I don’t understand why it has become a racial issue. In over the 30 years of living here, no such conversation ever took place. Racism is not part of our community, nor is the name Dixie

My children were proud to play sports for the Dixie teams. It is a ridiculous waste of time and money to pursue this. There is nothing offensive about the word Dixie, if you look it up in the dictionary it says it’s a group of states that had slavery before the Civil War, however the northern states had slavery as well. Spend the money on the children’s education!

I strongly urge people to keep the name as it is. The Dixie school district has educated many thousands of people, including myself, and has a long reputation of bringing people together in this community.
