Keep the name. It is a silly waste of time and energy that could be much better spent doing something positive

This is our Dixie, not any other dixie that some people may self righteously be confused about.

It's a name that has a different meaning. Get past the name. The cost to change is a waste. My children when to Dixie and loved their school and the school song.

The Dixie District has a long history of excellence in education. Dixie teachers, staff and Board members are welcoming and supportive to all families and students. We smile when we hear Dixie District. This is not a "confederate outpost" as has been suggested by change activists who do not live in the District.

And my almost 15 years of selling real estate in the Dixie school district not one person has ever ever said one word about the name of our district and perceiving it as racist. In fact, I never knew it was even an issue for anyone until three weeks ago. Let’s focus on spending important school district dollars on things that really matter for our children instead of wasting it on a name change that is unnecessary.

Keep the name! Dixie has long stood for a warm, welcoming and excellent school district. Focus on the children, not divisiveness.

My comments and thoughts on this issue are the same as so many stressed above as well as the petition itself! Keep the name Dixie! I feel proud to live in a diverse, vibrant and close-knit COMMUNITY focused neighborhood!

Spend the money on the kids.

This is a distraction brought up by people with a political agenda, intended to divide a wonderfully inclusive community.

It was a name of a woman. Not intended to be racist. That is only the reader's view. Grow up. I would hope the priorities of the school are higher than a name change.

My 3 adult children who attended Dixie liked the school AND the name.

If they are truly worried about the name Dixie being racist then lets use this as a teaching experience for our children. We cannot change history or make racism go away by simply changing a word.

Changing the name is a ridiculous, useless and self indulgent waste of time and money by a few hypersensitive folks. NO

No reason to spend money on this ridiculous request to change Dixie’s name.
