Don't erase our history !

Please stop this nonsense and focus on the children and the education!!

Utterly ridiculous! For a bunch of Subjective Heads to conjure an idea about Dixie, known NOTHING about our American History and the background behind the word. It's all about political correctness in attempting to showing evil in others for their own personal benefit.

I live in Marin but not in Dixie School District. But I support your effort. You have to be proud of your history even there are some dark places there. And there is nothing "dark" in the Dixie School district. Great schools, great teachers, great parents ( at least most of them). Don't be ashamed but be proud!

My mother in law is named Dixie. This whole fight is ridiculous.

I attended the Dixie School District in the 80s, and Miller Creek School.

I am a former student of this school and proud of everything it represents.

We no longer live in the Dixie School District, but it's a great school and area. There's absolutely no reason to change the name - I agree with an earlier comment that it has become synonymous with high quality education.

We are Dixie!

Seriously, stop wasting time and money. Focus on issues that matter.

We cannot appease activists with a very obvious political agenda who are using race as a way to bully people. Focus on priorities and don’t change the name. If you do, this’ll just be the beginning of a long activist agenda.

This is way too much energy to put on this issue when there are so many serious things to get excited about.

This whole process to try to change the name must simply be caused by people who are not mentally stimulated and just want to drum up trouble to feed their own narcissism. Instead of wasting time on something you can just sit in your armchair and complain about, do go out of your homes and physically do something good for an actual human being. Changing a historical school name is not a real cause, nor would it have any real effect. Spending any money on this effort, taxpayers’ or private, on something so silly when it could be used to better the school goers’ education, awareness and overall experience, would be appalling.

I have no time for this sort of grievance engineering. The sort of virtue-signalling being carried out by the "change the name" crew is nauseating. I wish the school board would do their damn jobs and make our schools safer from active shooters and more focused on keeping our children's minds growing. A bullying 2% of any population can create storms in teacups such as this. Such a damn shame.

Dixie grad from late 1970’s, no longer live in San Rafael but remember what a great place it was (and still is) to raise a family.

We raised two sons in the Dixie School District. The name has become synonymous with high quality education. Real Estate agents will tell their clients it is the best school district in Marin. Mike Elgie says a name is what you make it to be - - I think "Dixie's" 155 years of good has branded the name with honor, inclusivity, and love. The name stands for greatness.
