I am from a maternal lineage of Cherokee and Carib heritage. My paternal lineage is Carib. I am not a descendant of African slaves. Our ancestors, elders, children and their children and so forth deserves to be acknowledged properly and humanely. We are indigenous to the land and we are being forced to identify as things we are not. Are we not human? Are we not productive members of society? Why do we have to fight to be rightfully addressed and recognized? Is it wrong for us to ackowledge our history as people who developed ancient civilizations and numerous lifestyles that everyone else has adopted today while residing here? Can we please be true to ourselves?!

My great grandmother and grandfather were Shawnee who walked the trail of tears from Virginia to Oklahoma when Oklahoma was to become the all-black state. I am Shawnee.

I am Aboriginal - My mothers B/C says Father "Colored" ( 1870 census hes a Mulatto) her mother is listed as "White" in 1920 Georgia ? I don't think so .His father is listed Mulatto Grand Pas aunt is listed for ethnicity "American"! I am American !!

..Indigenous to the Carolinas. We have no known slaves from Africa in our bloodline. No one was born in Africa. I am NOT AFRICAN AMERICAN.
