In 2009 Brian Wolf (Global Product Development for Ford Motor Company) donated one of the first ever Mystic Cobras to be produced, with assurances of letting Washtenaw Community College students build and race it. The absolute promise made by the college, stated that the project could go forth. The super car would be built by students and raced by students. Starting January 9th 2010, students went to work. From that day on, students haven’t stopped working on the Mystic. It was miraculously up and running in time for high school drags in the spring of 2011, after a period of only fifteen weeks. The hard work and determination of the students allowed this great feat to be accomplished. The work didn’t stop there. Students were enrolling multiple times in the classes that allowed them to continue working on the Mystic. Furthering the car was nothing compared to the furthering of education received through working on the car. Students walked away from working on the Mystic every day with a much greater knowledge base and sense of accomplishment. Much attention was brought to not only the car, but to the college due to the great work done by the students. The ultimate payoff for the students was to be on April 28th 2012. The students would not only see their car roar down the track, but also be able to drive the machine they put so much hard work into down the track at a reduced and safe speed. April 23th, 2012, just days before the big day, the students were informed that the car wasn’t even allowed to leave the college. No reason was given. Everything they worked for was undone. This group is working just as hard as they worked on the car to overturn this tragedy and allow the car that students rightfully deserve to race, be raced! It is not about making Brian Wolf proud. It is not even about making Ford Motor Company or WCC proud. Racing this car is the absolute vision of the American dream and hard-working individuals. It’s time to reward the people who put everything in to the Mystic Cobra. It is time to make America proud by proving that hard work and determination pays off in this great country. Please help us get the Mystic back on the track! Alowing the students hard work to pay off.

The momentum around the Mystic Mustang project is growing because you are holding the college accountable for their promise. Now is the time to turn this pressure into action by emailing the department heads today. Tell them the students earned the right to run this car.

FORD GAVE IT TO THE STUDENTS NOT THE ADMINISTRATION. GIVE THE KEYS BACK.

What a waste of potential. Those kids put in so much time and the school just pulls the plug? Ridiculous.

Total garbage. You promise kids a once in a lifetime project and then yank it away at the last second? Shame on you WCC.

My son was in that program and he learned more in that garage than he ever did in a boring classroom. Let them finish what they started!

I remember seeing that car. Real masterpiece. It needs to be on the track where it belongs.
