On Jan. 4, 2010, the notification of the elimination of the Women's Bassmasters Tour (WBT) was released. The claim was that there was not enough participation in order for them to keep it going. Well, if you look at how little WBT is marketed and promoted, then there should be no wonder as to why numbers declined. In addition, there is the need to acquire the eligibility and finances to participate. This is a detriment to the advancement of professional angling competition for women, as Bassmasters is, or rather was, the largest tournament for us. This petition will hopefully show that we are serious about the sport and want the WBT to continue. We are asking BASS to support us in this and revamp the WBT to include better promotional support and increase access to sponsors that could boost Pro Women Anglers acceptance and overall presence on network television and commercials. To BASS: If the WBT is not restored, nor diligent efforts made to include professional women anglers in either the Bassmasters Classic or Bassmasters Elite, you will lose many of your supporters that are truly upset by your recent decision.
